The last seconds was the difference between a very good game and not that good one.

The first half was excellent and a good example on how to stamp authority on the game. The first tackle that was over the line was immediately punished with a yellow card. And from this moment in the 7th minute both teams knew they had to be careful. The result was a highly committed game with a very stubborn defending Sunderland but never did they cross the line and went in with flying or dangerous tackles. All in all not much fouls in the game. Maybe thanks to the early yellow?

In the last seconds of extra time Sunderland scored from an offside position. The assistant was clearly not level with the second last defender and because of that he had the wrong angle and it will have looked for him that the Sunderland player was onside. He wasn’t as was clear to see after 10 seconds of replays. A perfect example on how within 10 seconds a goal can be given as correct or can be cancelled as not correct.

Also Manchester City could have scored from an offside goal. But Richards put the ball against the crossbar from an offside position that wasn’t given also.  The two assistants having a bad day in the second half

3 Replies to “Untold Ref Review: Sunderland 1 – Man City 0. Ref helps Sunderland at end”

  1. Hi Walter

I liked this review as much as any other review, I think that the previous summary which told the cumulative right or wrong calls was better.

I dont mind the new format but please keep the old ones also with the new ones. Sometimes you dont have to read everything and you can just look at the overall stats and understand the summary.

  2. Abishek,

I will try to give the old summary back its place and just put the two together in the same article. We still count also the old summary in our review so it is just a matter of putting it online in fact.

  3. Is this Kalou transfer correct?? Really cant see or hope this one goes through. I cant see him adding to the team and what’s the deal with Park?

Please please please I’m praying this is paper talk.
