Premier League: Arsenal v Man City LIVE!

Hello and welcome to the #RioChallenge Live Blog brought to you by Strongbow, where Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from their current dip in form with a win against a high-flying Manchester City side.

Having dispatched Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford recently, Manuel Pellegrini’s side will fancy their chances against an Arsenal side struggling to find consistency. The Gunners drew 2-2 with Swansea in mid-week, after a Mathieu Flamini own goal, so will be looking to keep in the title race with a win against City.

The last time these two sides met was back in December, when Arsenal were humbled 6-3 by Pellegrini’s side. The stats show that Arsenal have won just three of their last nine Premier League games, while Man City have converted the highest percentage of shots into goals of any team in the Premier League (20%).

Aside from the action, you can get yourself in with a chance of winning a trip to Rio de Janeiro to play one of Brazil’s best female five-a-side teams, all you have to do is sign you and your mates up here: bit.ly/riochallenge

  1. How many more years are we to give him? It is the same old crap every year, scrimping into 4th on a shoe string budget that shouldn’t be! I’m all for giving someone a second chance, but 9 of them? No matter what you say or think it will be the same old same come transfer time, he will dither, buy 1 maybe and say the club has got mental strength, even you must agree on that, and don’t give me the “I’m not a real fan” bull, cause I have been for decades!

  2. Best of luck to the Arsenal this evening. Why didnt mourinho run down the tunnel to ring his wife to tell her that Palace were winning

  3. Was hoping for a different approach today, mix it up a bit, try to catch City out with a different formation, but it looks like we’re playing exactly the same way we always do and that hasn’t worked out too well so far this season (or in any recent season) against the stronger sides. I like Poldi, but think he’s better coming off the bench at half time. If Poldi were to play off OG in a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1, and our full backs concentrated on defending I think we’d have a better chance. No flamini either, strange that AW prefers MA against the power of Yaya and Co. Thoughts?

  4. Thanks guys – eyesight must be failing. Would still like a change of approach for this one but glad to see that Flamini is playing.

  5. What is to easy about a penalty? Can you imagine what the whorelists are saiying that Roscky fell down so easily i really don’t get it.

  6. We need to shoot, one shot and non on target!! Carzola,Roscky please Wenger let us get messy. Tell the boys to fuckin shoot we have got the chances in the middle of the 18teen yard box why the fuck do we need to pass on the sides ? Let us shoot, what’s wrong with that,we can not score in crosses especially with the calibre of city’s players. We are the gunners we need to shoot.

  7. Toure and Kompany on yellows bring the runners on now Gnabry and Oxlade…but Wenger hasn’t..this is the problem

  8. Who is that dweeb that was in the studio with the two jamies on sky? He said if Everton win tomorrow then they could be ahead of us this time next week if they beat us….,how is that possible, thought we were 7 points ahead of Everton???

  9. AL,
Not sure; here in the US, we have no access to Sky, but my guess is Michael Owen.

  10. Ray
It’s not Owen, have never bothered to find out his name but given the stupidity one could say it’s probably Owen in disguise 🙂

  11. Did not hear that but bound to be Owen, boyhood Everton fan, and his dad made a couple appearances for them. Doesn’t explain the fact he is a complete and utter tool though. Think we will avoid defeat at Everton after this
