AND THIS LADIES AND GENTLEMAN IS IT. This is the last Untold Ref Review of the season.
Now the only thing you have to do is to sit and wait for the summary of all those reviews. And I can already say that Untold Arsenal is writing history with these ref reviews. I really hope that we can start our review very soon now. Keep your eyes open and come back to have a look at the most complete review of refs in the EPL starting on this site in the next days.
Meanwhile, this final article in the series (below) is the conclusion for this season to a series which started several years back, in which a team of referees analyse the work of refs in Premier League matches.
Our figures show that when we analyse the errors made by refs there are consistent trends which do not “even out” through the season, as some commentators would have it. All the earlier ref reviews plus analyses of the errors made by refs, and articles relating to our campaign to have the body which organises referees activities reformed, plus an analysis of the background to this campaign, can be found on:
Although this is a site built for Arsenal supporters we welcome comments from fans of other teams, although we tend not to publish comments which are simply abusive or which are completely off topic.

Here is the ref review of the match between Wigan and Newcastle refereed by Mike Dean. It was a tale of two halves.
Wigan came out strong in the first half. Victor Moses scored a couple of nice goals before 15 minutes were off the clock. After that all the calls seemed to go against Newcastle, including McArthur being spared a red card for a two-footed lunge on Yohan Cabaye. As it was, Newcastle never managed to get back into the match and Wigan added two more goals to make it 4-0 at the end of the half.
Dean’s performance in the second half was better although I felt he should have booked a couple of Newcastle players: Coloccini for handling, and Williamson for an unsporting challenge. The wrong calls in the second half favoured Newcastle but it did not really matter because the match was basically over by halftime. Papiss Cissé did hit the woodwork twice, but there were no goals in this half and the score ended 4-0.

A bad first half score followed by a better second half performance. With the game seemingly over maybe there was no need more to be a bad ref?

In the bias score we see a clear advantage towards Wigan in the first half. In the second half with the game won by Wigan it was time to cover his tracks maybe?

So how many reviews in total does this make?
Great work of the ref review team. I can’t wait for the season review.
Walter, this series of ref reviews has been a great effort from you and also all the other reviewers, I’m sure you are glad you can have a rest for a few weeks. But the hard work is very much appreciated.
On this particular review it looks like once again Dean had a very poor match.
Kentetsu,
the answer to your question is in an article now on the site
bjtgooner,
one part of the hard work is done.
For the moment I am writing what should be around 40 articles about the numbers I guess. And it could easily become more.
Rest….what rest? 😉 🙂
It should be pointed out here that this performance by Dean was post the Chelsea debacle, and so post the confirmed apology that took place between Riley and Martinez. I would love to see the statistical analysis pre and post this call. (Hoisted by his own Petard). For the attention of the conspiracy sceptics. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/apr/10/wigan-apology-chelsea
@Dogface pretty please
