Squad Values in the Europa League. Arsenal are big players in a modest pool

by Andrew Crawshaw

I thought I would look at the squad values of the clubs in the Europa League just to see how big the differences are between Arsenal (most valuable) and the others

Arsenal are in group H along with FC Köln, bate Borisov and Red Star Belgrade.  Using the figures from Transfermarket.com to provide a consistent approach (although not necessarily  related to actual transfer values paid this summer) here are the detailed figures for our group :-

As you can see there is an enormous variation between the clubs. The whole squad value of both Bate Borisov and Red Star Belgrade are below the individual valuation of Theo Walcott!

FC Köln have two players with values above £10m – Goalkeeper Timo Horn at £10.8 and Left Back Jonas Hector at £18m).  Red Star Belgrade have 5 players with values above £1m with Centre Midfielder Guélor Kanga the most valuable at £2.7m.  Bate Berisov also have 5 players above £1m with Centreback Nemanja Milunovic the highest valued at £1.62m.

  1. In as much as the squad value of the Arsenal current players both senior and junior who can play in this season’s Europa League Cup look to dwarf those of their 3 group H opponent team players, I have to say am delighted Le Prof does recognise the fact that football is not totally based on mathematics calculations but on other projections too. And has in this light decided not to take beating BATE-Borisov at their backyard for granted but has equipped himself by taking along with him a very strong mixed Gunners team to Belarusaw to do the needful game win over BATE-Borisov tomorrow night’s at Borisov Arena.

With the compelling news that has emerged in the media in regard to the Gunners 18 man squad Le Prof had flew to Belarusaw today for tomorrow night’s Europa League CUp 2nd round group stage match between BATE-Borisov and Arsenal at Borisov Arena, I am compelled to do some changes to my earlier starts and bench that I’ve made for the match which I posted in my comment posting on this site on an article posting that threaded some couple of hours back today.

My reshuffled 3-4-3 starts and 7 man bench for the BATE-Borisov match.

    Starts:
    Ospina
    Holding Mertesacker Mustafi
    Maitland Wilshere ElNeny Kolasinac
    Walcott Giroud Willock

Bench: Macey Gilmour Dragomir Akpom Nketiah Dasilva Nelson

  2. The real challenge will come from the 3rd place CL teams which will be demoted to Europa League in the second round. Teams like Benefica, Celtic, Atletico Madrid, Dortmund are likely to arrive from CL and they will provide more competition.
