Details of transfer tales compiled from blogs and newspapers that cover Arsenal matters.
The list of Arsenal players who are tipped to be signed by the club this summer has now reached 26, and we have the details in the table below. But we have a problem
When we first started running a schedule of the various players being tipped to come to Arsenal during a transfer window, it was clear that football journalists in the media were seeking to outbid each other with the names of players that had not yet been mentioned elsewhere. But once we started running a table listing all the nominees it became very clear that certain newspapers had just been throwing in names of obscure South American players that really had no chance of coming to Arsenal at all. The media were just filling space.
But such days are now long since gone, and a more simplistic, and indeed cheaper approach has been formulated in which in essence, journalists take a look at which players other “outlets” (as publications now like to be called) have linked with certain clubs, and then the journos come along and simply add another player to the list.
So the drive to find more and more clubs bidding for players has declined and from that point so has the number of players who have been identified as moving to Arsenal. But we now have another problem, although before we come to that, here’s the lists so far….

That extra problem comes from the fact that as soon as we put a player on the lists, other media outlets start talking about him, making it look as if the player really is a hot prospect, rather than a one off bit of speculation from a newspaper.
So here’s the world of warning. This is just a list of players that have been mentioned in the national media in England, as players that Arsenal are trying to get. Based on the findings of this sort of work in previous years, the number of players that actually will come will be about three.
