As the world goes bonkers, we finally don’t know what to say

So it goes on.  All is good at Tottenham (Maddison and Kulusevski apparently can take them up the table so maybe they won’t end up 17th for a third season running)  while all is bad at Arsenal because Saka is going to be out for “some time.”    Ah yes, “some time”.   That famous phrase.  We’ll come back to  that in a moment.

And so Max Dowman, already the youngest goalscorer ever in the Premier League will add to the nine minutes he has already had by playing some more.  And you never know, he might score.

But we know how it goes.   Play him a few times and Arsenal will be told they are overplaying him and he will suffer burn out.   Don’t play him and Arsenal are too conservative.  Play him and someone else will tempt him away with promises of playing every week…

In fact you can obviously see the role that Arsenal now fit.   The journos don’t want to be accused of writing about the Mancs all the time, so now they write about Max a lot.   Thus we now hear that the “supremely talented 16-year-old has found opportunities limited this season.”  That being because he has only played nine minutes.  But did he find it, or did someone actually tell him about the plan for his use?

Yet he did score twice against Ipswich in the little cup, and from memory I would say there should be another little cup game coming up this week.    But Arsenal are in ruins as Saka is damaged.   Woe, woe and thrice woe indeed.   The media hasn’t been able to say this for a little while but now here we are….

Mikel Arteta is short of attacking options and Brazil is full of arguments that have nothing to do with football, so football goes on and on and on.

But yes there is some BIG NEWS because we are told in another Guardian headline Bruno Guimarães had sleepless nights before Newcastle exit but hopes for some ‘love’ at Arsenal.

In short no one really knows what is going on, but there has to be something because these guys have got newspapers to produce and the editor is screaming “Where is the news?”

So is it all turmoil and disaster at Arsenal ahead of whatever it is ahead of?   Actually no since Arsenal have now delivered some really decent results that the media don’t want to talk about yes this is looking rather good in terms of results and the club survived the trip to Bayern with a draw, which really annoyed the journos who were looking for a HUGE defeat.

Yes the Telegraph is still running its headline “Morale has plummeted at Arsenal as job cuts spread discontent” but actually what I heard was the mood has risen as those who were being made redundant had seen the size of their redundancy pay out, with the joke circulating that they could take their skills to Tottenham Ho.

But you know with all this media chatter, you really wouldn’t believe that Arsenal are second would you?   Mind you, you probably wouldn’t believe that Brighton are third.

But back to injuries: Saka is out for a couple of weeks, Tzolis is doing well but not ready to return, and Reyena could be available if not for this game, then soon.   Arsenal have scored eight goals in the last four games which include matches against the likes of Leeds, Lille, Bayern and Nottingham F – so a fair old mixture. and yet everyone says it is all falling apart.   (Well ok not everyone but the Telegraph is saying that, and that newspaper really does annoy me).

But three wins and a draw since that awful defeat to Brighton, shows there is a recovery, as do the eight goals scored in those games.

And thinking of all that we began to play a game concerning what the Daily Telegraph would say about Arsenal if we are able to win the league this season.    In the end we thought they would probably just not mention the matter at all.   But then we saw the headline from Football Fan Cast headline which says, “Arsenal contact Tottenham and Aston Villa forward targets after Bukayo Saka injury”

Clubs, we know, talk to other clubs all the time, but to think that they respond to a single injury while the next transfer window is still well over two months away, on a specific issue to replace a specific player who has yet to be fully diagnosed and might actually only be out for a could of weeks, is so bonkers, we didn’t actually know what else to say.

  1. The same Bukayo Saka whose form the media claim was ‘concerning’? A weak attack that scores 2 goals per game with 7 different goalscorers? It is to laugh…

Antione Semenyo is out for 2 months, but I am still awaiting the ‘how will Man City cope’ articles I have seen for Arsenal!
