We have now found out a little more about PGMO referee Bobby Madley who has the Premier League after it was suggested he had sent an offensive social media message which allegedly mocked a disabled man. It appears that Mr Madley has a lady friend in Norway and has now gone to that country both to be with her and to work with the Norwegian sporting authorities.
If that is right, it might be that he will be surprised at the way refereeing is organised outside of the enclosed and highly secretive world of the PGMO in England.
It is the sudden end to a rising career in England – he was the referee at our Community Shield game last year, and was on the Fifa list.
As we pointed out last week, this leaves an already short list of referees even shorter. And now, onto the main news – the referees and what they are up to…

15 referees have been used in the PL so far this season., David Coote has only appeared once,
For the second week running there is no Mike Dean.
Martin Atkinson and Anthony Taylor are the only two referees who have had a game in every week, David Coote still only one match (in last week’s 4 – 2 win by Fulham against Burnley) and none yet for Neil Swarbrick, Roger East (presumably still to pass his physical), Mike Jones, Andy Madley or Simon Hooper.
The most worked official is Andre Marriner with three matches in the middle and no fewer than 5 as fourth official. The PGMO cerrtainly getting their money’s worth there.
David Coote has four appearances as fourth official and will surely be allowed his whistle again soon.
Of the referees who I believed are on the Select List and have yet to appear in the middle, Neil Swarbrick and Mike Jones haven’t been used as a fourth official either, Andy Madley will be seen as fourth official this weekend at Crystal Palace and Simon Hooper was fourth official in matchweeks 1 and 2.

Anthony Taylor needs no introduction, he is 39 years old from Manchester and FIFA accredited and has been on the PGMO Select Group since the start of the 2010/11 season.
He was demoted for one game following our Opening Day loss against Aston Villa in 2013 – the one where he wrongly awarded Villa two penalties and sent off Kos amongst other errors. In my opinion he hasn’t really earned any trust since then.
The Daily Canon did a piece last January discussing which of Mike Dean, Jon Moss or Anthony Taylor was worst for Arsenal, they concluded that Anthony Taylor was the middle of the three, with Moss best and Dean worst – albeit that Moss has never refereed an arsenal game against a top 6 opponent which is a surprising statistic in itself.
It is about time we put in a decent away performance, I hope it comes this Sunday along with three points

Argh! Anthony Taylor to referee Arsenal match away to Cardiff City in the PL on Sunday? The man is one of the well known anti-Arsenal match referees at the PL at the PGMO.
But notwithstanding his being an anti-Arsenal match referee in the PL well known for his anti-Arsenal match win antics, the Gunners have in anticipation the PGMO could give him their away match to Cardiff to referee have prepared an anti-Arsenal match referring antidote that will neutralized any anti-Arsenal match referring and anti-Arsenal match flagging in the PL which referee Anthony Taylor and his 2 match assistants have plotted to carry out in the match against Arsenal in the game.
Therefore, I enjoy every Gooner not to worry as to whether if Anthony Taylor will tilt the outcome of the match to favour Cardiff City. He could try doing that but the Gunners will block him with their anti-Arsenal match referring in the PL antidote to diffuse any attempt by him and by his 2 match assistants to do that in the match against Arsenal. And will go ahead in the match playing superior telling game to that which the Bluebirds have on offer and beat them thoroughly in the match to make them cry after the final whistle ending the match.
These days, it makes no difference which referee is assigned. They are all anti-Arsenal because they are required to follow Riley’s agenda.
Neil Warnock wants his side to ‘rough up’ Aaron Ramsey, according to the BBC. With Anthony Taylor in charge, no doubt they will be given free license to do so. I still haven’t forgotten the Taylor’s uneven handling of the Villa game at the start of the 2013/2014 season.

Good article, but in regards to Neil Swarbrick and Mike Jones, both referees have retired from the Select Group but will be used for VAR.

I don`t think match officials are biased against Arsenal or any team. If a referee makes a mistake we have to accept.
However, the simulation acts of some players must get a correct judgment .
For example Kane and Daily Ali both have a nice simulation behaviors, They are
a good players why do they act to get an advantage by deceiving the referees , I have seen them in a several tournaments including the game with Chelsea.
