Still only 15 referees used so far this season, and David Coote has only had one game, although he has 6 as fourth official. No signs yet of Neil Swarbrick, Roger East, Mike Jones, Andy Madley (1 as fourth official) or Simon Hooper (3 as fourth official), who are, I believe, on the panel of available officials.
Martin Atkinson (3 as fourth official) and Anthony Taylor (1 as fourth official) maintain their ‘most used’ badges being allowed to blow their whistles for the fifth week running.
A return for Mike Dean after two weeks break as he takes charge of Watford v Man United, it will be interesting to see if Watford maintain their excellent start to the season.
At Newcastle Arsenal have Lee Probert in charge, assisted by Simon Beck and Adrian Holmes with David Coote as fourth official.
Lee Probert is now 46 years old, was born in South Gloucestershire and is affiliated to Wiltshire Football Association. He has been a member of the Select Group of referees since 2007 and has been in charge of 165 PL matches to date.
In his two previous matches this year Lee has sent off two players and issued 9 yellow cards, among the highest of all referees. I guess that Granit Xhaka and Skhodran Mustafi had better watch out.
Both previous matches ended as 2 – 2 draws, Bournemouth v Everton and Brighton v Fulham
He was the referee in charge of our 2014 FA Cup Final against Hull where he failed to award us any of the four penalties most of us thought we should have been awarded. I suspect we shouldn’t expect any this match either.

Oh f*ck… where did they dig up this dinosaur once more….
Newcastle have played under 291 Man-Minutes of Caution this season, compared to 337 Man-Minutes for Arsenal. Numbers seem close, they both are playing under 78.5 Man-Minutes of Caution per game.
Newcastle players have required treatment on the pitch 6 times, compared to 9 times for Arsenal players. One opposing player was cautioned as a result of an Arsenal treatment (and we had 1 broken leg).
Newcastle have inflicted treatments on the opposition 10 times. Arsenal have inflicted treatments on the opposition 5 times, and been carded once for that.
Lee Probert is (tied for) 11th in the Referee treatment league, having overseen 7 treatments this season.
I would guess that Lee Probert is going to let Newcastle kick us, and the distribution of cards to the two teams will be about the same in terms of Man-Minutes. It’s unlikely that Probert will hand out a caution as a result of a treatment.
Spuds versus Liverpool!!!
Spuds have played under 251 Man-Minutes of Caution this season, compared to 155 Man-Minutes for pool!!! Numbers are not close. Liverpool will either get few Cautions, or if they get them, they will be very late in the game.
Spud players have required treatment on the pitch 4 times, compared to 5 times for pool!! players.
Spuds have inflicted treatments on the opposition 8 times. Arsenal have inflicted treatments on the opposition 4 times.
Michael Oliver is (tied for) 4th in the Referee treatment league, having overseen 10 treatments this season.
I would guess that Michael Oliver is going to let Spuds kick pool!! The Spuds may get more cards, or cards earlier than pool!! I doubt there will be any cards as a result of treatments.
Bournemouth versus Leicester
Craig Pawson leads the referee treatment league, having overseen 18 treatments.
Bournemouth have played under 298 Man-Minutes of Caution this season, compared to 217 Man-Minutes for Leicester Numbers are not close. Leicester will either get few Cautions, or if they get them, they will be very late in the game.
Bournemouth players have required treatment on the pitch 9 times, compared to 5 times for Leicester players.
Bournemouth have inflicted treatments on the opposition 9 times. Leicester have inflicted treatments on the opposition 6 times.
I would guess that Craig Pawson is going to let borth teams kick each other. he will let the game get slightly out of hand, so as to require more treatments. Bournemouth may get more cards, or cards earlier than Leicester. I doubt there will be any cards as a result of treatments.

I missed editing s/Arsenal/pool!!!/ above.
Chelsea versus Cardiff
Chelsea have played under 180 Man-Minutes of Caution this season, compared to 240 Man-Minutes for Cardiff. Numbers are not close. Chelsea will either get few Cautions, or if they get them, they will be very late in the game.
Chelsea players have required treatment on the pitch 2 times, compared to 14 times for Cardiff players.
Chelsea have inflicted treatments on the opposition 1 times. Cardiff have inflicted treatments on the opposition 7 times.
I would guess that Jonathon Moss is going to let Cardiff kick Chelsea players, but won’t issue cards for it.
Man$ity versus Fulham
Man$ity have played under 211 Man-Minutes of Caution this season, compared to 173 Man-Minutes for Fulham. Numbers are close. Cautions will be few and or late to both teams.
Man$ity players have required treatment on the pitch 1 times, compared to 9 times for Fulham players.
Man$ity have inflicted treatments on the opposition 10 times. Fulham have inflicted treatments on the opposition 5 times.
I would guess that Stuart Attwell is going to let Man$ity kick Fulham players, but won’t issue cards for it.
Beginning to see the rationale for this now Gord. Bit tikka see.
Early days yet I guess, as a big week of hacking and carding could tip your tables about.
A tremendous exercise in analysis. Is there an overrarching purpose? Or is it just for your ,and our broader understanding of the ways of the premiership multiverse?
Watford versus ManU
Watford have played under 271 Man-Minutes of Caution this season, compared to 346 Man-Minutes for ManU. Numbers are not close. Expect ManU to get cautions early and or more frequently.
Watford players have required treatment on the pitch 1 times, compared to 3 times for ManU players.
Watford have inflicted treatments on the opposition 6 times. ManU have inflicted treatments on the opposition 10 times.
I would guess that Mike Dean is going to let ManU kick Watford players, but won’t issue cards for it.
By and large, the medja ignores when a player goes down. In a live commentary, it is not unusual to find a treatment is not even mentioned. I believe those of you watching a TV feed, seldom see the camera on a player needing treatment.
One of the ways that a referee can exert control on either team, is issuing cautions. I am including the issuance of a penalty as a caution. If the referee wants (or was instructed) to let one team win, putting the opposition under caution will help.
PGMO does have a tendency to let the cards even up towards the end of the game, regardless of scoreline. Giving out a yellow card in the 90th minute really doesn’t do much. My logic of a penalty being a caution loses out here, as a penalty in the 90th minute is a very effective instrument.
Southampton versus Brighton
Southampton have played under 414 Man-Minutes of Caution this season, compared to 248 Man-Minutes for Brighton. Numbers are not close. Expect Southampton to get cautions early and or more frequently.
Southampton players have required treatment on the pitch 6 times, compared to 12 times for Brighton players.
Southampton have inflicted treatments on the opposition 12 times (and been carded for it once). Brighton have inflicted treatments on the opposition 4 times.
I would guess that Anthony Taylor is going to manage the game such that there are some treatments required, and that it is likely that a Southampton player will be carded for a foul requiring treatment of a Brighton player. Southampton should get lots of card and or early cards.
Treatments
First off, if Untolder’s see treatments in games, by all means note them and submit them. If I don’t know it happened, it is hard to account for it.
There are (I think) 3 main reasons why a treatment on field may be required:
.1. The situation evolved in a manner that a player was “innocently” hurt in a collision.
.2. One player intended to be rough on the other, and really a card should be issued.
.3. One player is trying to fool the referee, and should receive a card for simulation.
The PGMO is trying to say that nearly all treatments fall under category 1. IFAB and FIFA have introduced rules to reduce simulation in the game, and PGMO is saying that simulation never happens in the EPL.
In the circumstance of Maitland-Niles injury, the disciplinary committee really should have issued a card after the fact, as he was in fact injured (I don’t believe a foul was even called).
Whatever be the kind of a dinosaur referee Lee Probert could be in the PL against Arsenal, the Gunners playing in a bromance manner tomorrow will defuse him in any dinosaur anti-Arsenal match whistling referring against Arsenal inhibited in him, and in any anti-Arsenal match flagging seemingly perpetrated against Arsenal by any of his 2 match assistants in their away match against Newcastle tomorrow in the PL with a throw of a single red hot rock burning at thermo-nuclear heat to kill the dinosaur anti-Arsenal match whistling referring incline in referee Lee Probert against Arsenal in the Newcastle match against Arsenal in the PL tomorrow Saturday at St James’ Park. A PL match the Gunners are highly favoured and highly billed to win by 0-3 to capitalise on any dropped points being dropped by any of their 5 PL Title rival big clubs playing tomorrow in the PL to close the gap on any of them.

I hope you’ve got elves watching the full matches of all the non Arsenal games.
I agree about AMN. Walker definitely had a petulant and cowardly trip at him once he realised he’d not won the battle. Once an effin spud.
If Newcastle play defensively as they have so far been doing , hope we win without conceding . A draw in the Spuds Vs ‘pool game , would not be too bad for us.
A draw for Watford would be good result too.
OMG – Probert, one of the absolute worst, back in the elite mob. Expect rubbish from this poser. COYG!
Spuds versus Liverpool!!!
Well, Oliver decided that pool!!! were not to get any cards of any kind, and did the same for the spuds. No cards in the game, and as near as I can tell only 2 treatments all game long (first for pool!!! at 73 minutes).
It seemed like Vertongen could have been dismissed for violent conduct (push in the face, with long fingernails), and instead gets nothing.
Oh, 32 fouls (18 by spuds) and no cards. If that was Arsenal at home with 18 fouls, we could easily have 9 yellows. Four probably be more likely.
