These figures make Arsenal’s progress look fairly certain, but there is one thing that might cause us worry, and that is the regular issue we’ve been talking about for the past couple of seasons – the away form.
Arsenal’s results away from home of course include the defeat to BATE in the last round – and Rennes is certainly a club that has more to offer than BATE. In the league the away form, as we have noted so often before, gives cause for concern.

This away record puts Arsenal on a par with the overall record of Rennes – which makes it look like Arsenal’s best tactic away from home will be to go for a draw – ideally a scoring draw so that Arsenal get a valuable away goal. Such a result should then be enough to see Arsenal through to the next round, with a solid win back at the Arsenal Stadium (as it is actually called on Europa League nights).
Of course no guarantee that it will be a score draw but that is how it looks to me.

From what I saw against spurs ,Emry finally got the formular for away games ,he will surely deploy it against Rennes and it will end 3-0 Arsenal
All things being equal at the Gunners in the Europa League Cup round of 16 match at Roazhon Park on Thursday night this week, Arsenal should beat Rennes in the 1st leg match of the round. But why do I think Arsenal should beat them? I think so because despite their somewhat inconsistency in winning matches at away this season in all competitions which also dates back to last season. But Arsenal being the superior team that is much superior in all aspects of the game to Rennes, will step their game up considerably above whatever game Rennes will play in the match against them and beat Rennes to not allow the negative result they had at BATE befall them at in the Rennes match.
It has been opined in some Arsenal sites that Emery could rotate his team heavily for the Rennes match due to his having in mind the big game that Arsenal will play against Man Utd at the Ems in the PL next Sunday. But he may not rotate at the expense of losing to Rennes or play to a draw with them but win the match outright. Therefore, a win in the match to Arsenal will be what the Gunners will fight for to achieve. And from all indications preceding the playing of the match thatis looking to favour the Gunners, Arsenal will achieve the desired away win in the match over Rennes despite their being at home to Arsenal.
Well, for those fans going to the game, apparently a common food in Rennes is a galette (buckwheat pancake) wrapped around some kind of pork sausage. Black pepper is possibly the only spice?
