By Sir Hardly Anyone
Certainly things have slowed down of late, and one can only assume that the volume of journalist alcohol consumption has risen past the level where even semi-coherent thought might burst through and find itself on the blog page or even in print.
But there are six new names on the list to take us up to 83 players said to be signing for Arsenal, and there are still 42 days to go. Just one new name a day from here on will take us way beyond last year’s total for the number of totally invented, fabricated, wild stories that journalists think we are so stupid that we are going to believe.
Also I’ve had the johnnies who understand these things start to sort out the alphabetisation a bit – don’t understand it myself, but they say they have done something to players with names starting with L and M. Something about one letter coming before another. A load of damned foolishness if you ask me, but then no one does.

- Bye bye Wojciech Szczesny: the great Gooner who loved Arsenal more than some of the “fans”.
- Poor show from Arsenal; but still we have the grand Alexis plan – and it could work rather well.
- Are we now in a two tier price structure when it comes to buying players?
- The Video Assistant Referees are on their way, well in other countries is, but not all….
So sad that Wojciech Szczesny is no longer an Arsenal player.
His ability, his enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment of playing are greatly missed on the pitch.
Against the wishes of the majority of the Arsenal fans world wide who have watched Szczsney played for Arsenal before including myself are very sad to read that the Polish keeper has been forced out of Arsenal against his wish.
The goalkeeper statistics compilers have shown through their goalkeeper comparisons statistics that Szczsney is currently on a higher goalkeeping quality than Ospina is. And even Szczsney is said to be at par with Petr Cech in goalkeeping performance last season.
I am of the thinking before that Le prof makes his decision purely for football reason and not basing it on emotional reason. But when he forced out Lukas Podolski out of Arsenal unceremoniously against his wish to leave, when from all indications Podolski was still very good to remain at Arsenal at the time of his being forced out. At that time I said to myself, Le Prof has decided to sell Podolski to Fenerbahce for the reasons best known to him but it can’t be for football reason.
The same scenario has now played itself out in this case of Szczsney getting forced out of Arsenal by Le Prof, for emotional reason maybe? and not for football reason I will say. Let’s not forget that Le Prof hardly listened to the voice of the majorly of Arsenal fans world wide including that of the Untold Arsenal voice who are his staunchest supporting website amongst all the Arsenal sites that are around. If he is listening to the voices of those majority Arsenal fans who are supporting the club and himself come rain, come sun, come heat, come cold, come good results, come bad results, come economic buoyancy and come economic crunch, he would have kept Szczsney at Arsenal and instead allowed Ospina to go. But as Arsenal fans, what can we do? Cry over spilled milk? Even if we continue to cry for spilling the milk, we can’t pack it, can we? In as much as we may disagree with him on some actions taken by him, Le Prof is the Arsenal boss and he makes the decisions. And to this effect, he has decided to sell Szczsney to Jeventus. So, we take it like that and wish Szczsney a successful career spell at Juve. Oh dear!
Although, Arsenal now have two specialist strikers of: Olivier Giroud and Alexandre Lacazette in the rank and file of the senior Gunners first team. Nonetheless, for more top options and cover, I’ll not be against the singing of the Celtic striker, Moussa Dembele this summer by Arsenal if Brendan Rodgers will not oppose his transfer to us as he opposed that of Louis Suarez to us before. What will be wrong with Arsenal having a 3rd specialist striker this summer in their first team squad for next season’s campaign? It will only show Arsenal intent to win the Premier League next season. Or will it not?
I’ve just come across the media report that said Le Prof wants to sell the Arsenal centreback, Calum Chambers maybe to Crystal Palace this summer. Who are reported to have had their first bid of £16m for the CB dismissed by Arsenal who are said to be holding out for close to £20m before they’ll accept. This is coming against the background of Le Prof recently sanctioning the sale of the majority of the Gooners favourite goalkeeper Szczsney to Jeventus. Okay, if he sells Chambers assuming he has to, which centrebacks at Arsenal will he replace him with for top options and cover next season as the versatile Gabriel is currently sidelined with injury, the aging Mertesacker can’t play ever three days anymore, Koscielny is more or less an Achilles injury case and won’t be available for our first two opening Premier League games next season due to suspension. But holding will be available and Mustafi also should be available. Thus, leaving us with only two strong CBs option to start the opening of our next season’s PL campaign. And now, Le Prof is looking to be converting Elneny to a centreback so as to make him a multi-purpose player of a box to box and a centreback. Good. No Gooner is against Le Prof plans in that regard. But is that the reason he wants to sell Chambers? I don’t understand. But if he has no plan to import a new centreback this summer, why wouldn’t him then want to keep the one he has and has developed him to become a top centreback at Arsenal in the past seasons?
No one is saying Le Prof should not sell to recoup. But if he has to sell for that purpose, especially to strengthen his hand financially to enable him purse other top quality targets in the transfer market this summer for Arsenal, Szczsney and Chambers are the least of those Gunners his books we expect him to sell. But if he decides to sell Gibbs, Debuchy, Jenkinson and Perez in this current window for the sole aim of to recoup and to rationalize his current first team squad and also to strengthen any weak position in his current first team squad with new incoming signing additions, no Gooner will pull any case with him for doing that.
Only if it was true, Aguero + 30 million pounds for Alexis Sanchez won’t be a bad idea.
It is interesting to see the credit our neighbours get for an attitude towards transfers and young players for which AW gets crucified year after year.
Ah and before I forget their last silverware is decades old, CL presence scarce and, yep the poor guys have no money because of a new satadium.
So stability is the perfect genius strategy for a team that wins zilch, yet it is proof of incompetence from Arsenal.
Talk about biases

And as much as I hate to admit it, they have become a good team playing good football. I am not in any point criticizing them.
