By Sir Hardly Anyone,
Now normally I only leave the Ancestral Republic of Rutlandshire to cover transfer nonsense, but it seems that nonsense has now become an all the year round event, and so I have been invited, as an experiment, to comment on chit chat that happens during what I believe the lower classes call “the working week”.
So upon looking at a range of sites on the interweb I find the headline, “Massive blow for Arsenal” which tells us that Koscielny won’t play because he was sent off in the last European game. I am not sure a blow can exist seven months after the event, but there you are. Time moves at different speeds on the interthing when predicted a disaster.
But moving on, playing predict-a-game it seems that the three central defenders line up is going to include Chambers who is only just emerging from a long injury spell. I’m not quite sure if that will happen, but there you are.
Elneny and Wilshere are then posited as the defensive midfield pairing, while the wing backs will be Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Up top Iwobi and Walcott play either side of Giroud.
This all seems a little radical to me, and I really don’t think this is true, so I think we should move on quickly to some more shock horror – in this case the rather late in the day realisation that Santi Caz was not in the Arsenal team photo – which really rather followed the fact that he is not in the 25 squad either.
However staying with long term injuries, Zelalem is back in training after a very bad knee injury.
Now moving on “Arsenal are planning to replace manager Arsène Wenger with Germany boss Joachim Low, according to Bundesliga expert Lee Price.”
This one is in the Daily Express which says, “Though the Wenger Out campaign has begun in earnest and early this season, the Arsenal board have already secretly begun succession planning – however much that surprises supporters.
“It is believed that the club will not offer an extension to (Wenger’s) current deal as manager – and will instead offer an upstairs role on the board.”
He (Low not Wenger) is currently in charge of the Germany football team, so presumably he would leave after the world cup, if this were to be true.
And there is exciting news on the transfer front too, as apparently one of the bloggettas has discovered that “World class attacker wants to join Arsenal after growing tired of life in Spain.”
Yes the excitable little beings have been hard at it again, and have found that Karim Benzema really has this time had enough of Real Mad and wants to play for Arsenal. After 83 false attempts to leave, he is leaving this time!!!
And in other transfer news, even though this is certainly the transfer window time, Arsenal are going to sign Raheem Sterling.
And it also seems that Arsene Wenger has said that Shkodran Mustafi was NOT seeking a move away from Arsenal – despite the fact that virtually every bloggetta under the sun was running the story. Inter Milan was reported to be the destination of choice.
Yet now we are told it was all a fantasy! Can you believe that!!!!
- The Arsenal U18 Team early season update
- Jack against Cologne, Kos is out, crowd trouble worries, and doping in German football.
- FA steals Community Shield funds, Government steals lottery funds, and Tottenham lose players
I’m not surprised to hear Alan Shearer woulder have gone for the ball
in regards the goalkeeper incident.
I can remember him stamping on a player.
Leopards and spots.
Benzema is 29. He’s been at Real Madrid since he was 20. The best years of his career have been spent winning trophies with the world’s biggest and most successful club. Why would we sign him when he’s hit thirty years old? I get the experience angle but we have a new striker in Lacazette who I expect to be the focus of our attack for many years to come. This story will, as in previous years, most likely evaporate. Benzema would be advised to take a huge final payday in the USA or head back to France for a couple of years tax-free earning with Monaco. Don’t come here. Don’t come to Arsenal. That ship has sailed.
If under the guidance of Le Prof Arsenal wins the quadruple titles of the Carabo Cup, the PL title which is the main big title win the teaming Gooners are after. Then also wins the FA Cup again and the Europa League Cup too all in a single season. Which I don’t think any club in the European football leagues has managed to achieve. I believe with these such a remarkable 4 title wins, I think the Arsenal board thereafter will offer Le Prof an immediate extension to his current 2 years deal at the club by a year. But Le Prof will likely holdout for 2 years extension which I think the board will consent to and keep him as Arsenal manager for the next four seasons to come beginning from this current ongoing season campaign.
Thank Goodness that we didn’t get Benzema !
Not that I would say no to an Iniesta …but in terms of forwards, we have what we need 🙂
I think Arsenal have past the era of their wanting to sign Karim Benzema. For, when they wanted to sign him, he bluffed AFC off and made fun and jest of them with his friend or friends according to media reports then. Before I think Arsenal will definitely know if they should reinforced to enhance their chances for titles win and which player they should sing during the next winter window. I think they have to first of all wait to see how they will fare across all the 4 completions they are currently competing in as the season pans out to know if actually they will need to sign any new senior top quality to reinforced .
seems to me a good opportunity to play wilshere, elneny etc you can always have first choice players on the bench
Has anyone else seen what Stan Kreonke said about Arsenal This morning in news. He said he doesn’t see Arsenal as having a good season, Quote it will not be Arsenal,s year this year but has said, that there is no reason that he can’t make a tonne of money like every other year. Now it seems to me that he is having a good old laugh at the fan’s expense. He also said that he hopes to build up his empire using Arsenal as one of his financial services in years to come. Im serious guys this American owner is using the fan’s of Arsenal to personally finance his bank account for himself. which leads me to believe that when he is tired and gets what he wants he will walk away. Time to stand up and be counted and stop buying Arsenal Merchandise as you’re lining this guys pocket . Check out the news on this now
This interview by Stan Kreonke is on TBN sport. Pass it on . If you’re an ARSENAL fan.
Thanks.
John, this commentary is not new – and indeed it is exactly the way in which he treats all his other sports ownership. Which is why the view taken on this site is that sacking the manager is pointless.
I do think that Benzima story is not true, in the recent year Arsenal have been getting a rid of old players and I don’t see why they will be buying a player who has finished.
OT: Corruption News
Miguel Maduro is being interviewed by a British committee, and numerous places have articles on this. The following quote is from Marca:
> The global soccer body has been trying to overhaul its operations in the wake of the worst crisis in its history, sparked in 2015 by the indictment in the United States of several dozen soccer officials on corruption-related charges.
I believe this is worded incorrectly. FIFA is _NOT_ trying to overhaul its operations, it only wants to appear to be doing so. It very much wants to keep the gravy train rolling into the future.
john. thanks for the link, that website is spot on! the kroenke “interview” is real football gallows humour, love the tony gale “foreign milk” headline too and i’m sure plenty on here will appreciate the tony adams headline (even i think its funny, despite being a tony adams worshipper/apologist) great work!
3 things we realise from this weeks media fiction:
1) There is no such thing as moving to England after being tired of life in Spain.
2) In 2 yrs time instead seeing pictures of the manager struggling with his jacket-zip, we’ll see images of one picking his nose… and eating it!
3) The stance of Stan Kroenke really highlights how much we need Arsene Wenger.
