Arsenal transfers – the full table of all 122 rumours, plus the view from White Hart Lane.

By Tony Attwood

By the end of course it was getting truly ridiculous.  Indeed as Short Fuse announced, “Arsenal’s transfer window descends into farce as structural problems remain.”  What they didn’t realise was that the farce was created by the media as time and again they told us deals had been done, and were confirmed, when even as the deadline popped up, there was not the slighted sign that it was anything other than a fantasy.

We were never sure if the Express were being tongue in cheek with “Arsenal transfer news: Unai Emery deadline day plans revealed – claim” followed by the “news” item that  “ARSENAL won’t be making any more additions to their squad this summer, it has been claimed.”  They spoiled it all a bit however by running the story twice with a slightly changed headline.

But undoubtedly the most appalling and most contemptuous approach was that of Football London, the Daily Mirror’s site which regularly published headlines such as Arsenal news live: ‘Confirmed €100m bid’ for World Cup winner, keeper agrees deal” above an article which had nothing whatsoever to do with the headline.

Arsenal signed 5 players, Chelsea 4, Liverpool 5, Manchester City 4, Manchester United 3, Tottenham 0.

I wondered how Tottenham supporters might be reacting so took a look at Harry Hotspur – obviously the other side of the fence but a witty and interesting blog always, even when I utterly disagree with it.   Let us end this marathon with him, and then for the final time the list of all the transfers that the mad idiots in the media reckoned were happening this summer… All 122 of them.

Over to you Harry.

I watched Pochettino fiddling with this microphone and pulling his chair snugly under the desk as the presser was about to begin.

His hand then patted the neck of his t shirt, perhaps to ensure his chain was still concealed.

His eyes darted across the pilgrims from the press who’d made the trip Hotspur Way to hear him announce nothing.

His speech had the rhythm to it, of material that wasn’t off the cuff.

There was some pity me stuff about player fitness and then we got to the guts of it.

Welcome to Versailles is what he said.

A project of such rotten self indulgence; the parallels are suffocating.

King Louis XIV, on his deathbed, is said to have given his heir the following advice:

“Do not follow the bad example which I have set you; I have often undertaken war too lightly and have sustained it for vanity. Do not imitate me, but be a peaceful prince, and may you apply yourself principally to the alleviation of the burdens of your subjects.”

The disconnection from the urgent social realities of that time echo through the walls of this regrettable palace –  that’s upset everyone that doesn’t have a vested interest in the borough of Haringey.

A big well done to all the Dumb Dumbs who prepared themselves for this gigantic punt; namely telling Poch to have another go again with the same incomplete squad.

Levy is now revealed has having been fanning about trying to lowball for a proven failure – whilst being roundly ignored by the clubs that he was seeking to his foist previous bad buys upon.

I’ll go first.

Welcome to Versailles.

All the experts agree: at least one of these Arsenal transfer deals will happen in the next 48 hours.

14 Replies to “Arsenal transfers – the full table of all 122 rumours, plus the view from White Hart Lane.”

  1. U should know harry hotspur is a troll prob arsenal fan in disguise so we didnt sign any1 boohoo still gt a better squad than you boys and will finish above u again with a settles team improving together add the new kids in i can see another good season coys

  2. No I didn’t know he wasn’t a Tottenham fan. My mistake. Sorry. But please do tell me, what is the view from WHL about this window. Arsenal, as I am sure you will know, have had windows which many people found very disappointing – so really, do you think it doesn’t matter?

  3. Few years back when Arsenal signed Cech from Chelsea, he was our only signing in that window, Press let loose. I remember reading something like “The only club not to sign an out field player.
On the Spurs inability to sign even a reserve player is not a good one. Poch is a good coach but the Chairman and the guys with the purse or safe know the best. I wish them well, but too well because Arsenal is love. COYG. Epl 2018/19 be good to us… Gunners for life!

  4. An Arsenal media site had it said today’s afternoon that Arsenal tried to offload Danny Welbeck during today’s transfer deadline day but their efforts to do that hit the rocks.

Notwithstanding that disappointment in not succeeding to offload Welbeck today, Arsenal have successfully offloaded Chambers on a season long loan deal to a London PL club side yesterday. And Lucas Perez was offloaded too to a London PL club on permanent transfer.

It has been noted on this site the UA that prior to today’s transfer deadline day and before yesterday, Arsenal have 29 senior team squad Gunners on the club’s books at the Emirates Stadium this summer. But only the maximum of 25 of the 29 will be allowed to be registered with the FA. When is the FA registrations closing date as the PL games kickoff tomorrow with Man Utd playing host to Liecester. Is the registrations closing tonight?

I believe with Chambers and Perez being offloaded and Koscielny is not expected to be included in Arsenal’s final 25 for registrations with the FA this summer, but still yet Arsenal will have one more senior player surpluse who they can’t register. But it has been said that the selling date for the PL clubs will be on till 31st August. Maybe the club will keep that surpluse Gunners to see if he will be sold by then or discharge him. But I don’t know which of the Gunner is affected in this surpluse to requirements at the club.

  5. It really does frustrate me how teams earning SUBSTANTIALLY less money than we do seem to have more money available to them during the transfer window. I hate being negative, but excluding central midfield, have we really strengthened any areas on the pitch? Apart from Spurs, our rivals certainly have. I mean, we got Sokratis from BVB, but they were looking to replace him anyway, so was he really the best that we could afford?

Is there an issue with the board not allowing us enough funds? For years upon year this was something that a certain section of our fanbase would use to attack and insult Wenger with. So blinded by their hatred for Wenger that they didn’t think for even a second that, maybe, just maybe, Wenger didn’t want to go 9 years or so with a negative net-spend.

Genuine question here; are we one of the only top teams on the planet that doesn’t get financial help from our board, where literally everything we spend must come from our own pockets?

Also, I see Danny Ings being touted as a £20m+ player, whereas the prices thrown about for Welbeck were far less than that, so it really does make me wonder why our players appear to be so horrifically undervalued.

  6. Oh yeah, and one other thing; I fucking hate how Merson refers to Arsenal as “we” when he is a self-proclaimed Chelsea fan that never hesitates to criticize Arsenal at every single opportunity he gets. I guess the “bigwigs” tell their bitch to say “we” because that potentially makes his opinion carry more weight with certain Arsenal supporters, and I guess the more accepted negativity directed towards Arsenal the better.

  7. LOL so outspent us

    West Ham
    Everton
    Liverpool
Chelsea (well at least so far, it’s £130m minus £35m Courtois) then whether they are sharked for Kante and Hazard Come in PSG, RealMad are you receiving me?
ManU spent just shy of what we did on one player, plus Dalot, but got rid of Blind. They will want to offload Martial, Rojo and Mata if possible, but they will be short unitl Jam, will it be another third season for Jose, for once he doesn’t deserve to go, well actually he didn’t deserve to go either of the Chelsea stints.

Brighton and Fulham are quite likely to have ouspent us and certainy will have if as I suspect a few more departures occur before the FORIEGN out window closes, haha Btexyit, where the EU natinals get more than the the natives.

Even Liiecester spent the Mahrez money at £60m, oh and just to top it off, are going in for Soyuncu to partner Harry Maguire, for £19m he’s on the deadline list, because we have an owner scraping to gether his pennies and proboably borrowing backhad from half his party ot finance his move, so he can try sell.

In fact Wolves have had a crack at outspending us. maybe have as well.

Where are all Stans teams, bottom half?

No LV then, achilles, moved from Per, to some other loyal servant. Torriera, better prowl real good and stay fit.

The league just got a lot harder, City are not running away with anything. match fix this….. no so easy this season.

When I congratulate a birth come on, post the thing.

I should be right more often, because investigations, club sales, lack of investment, boardroom tampering, global market maniplation, just isn’t accurate enough!

So Boris does’t want to go back in Sept, he’s growing on me, he knows so well how to ply Eton class clown.

Poch, now lets see how good you are, nothing, well, that’s just not good, but buying for the sake of buying is ridiculous. – Now if you only stopped playing hatchet footy.

  8. I suspect that Poch and Levy had some agreement that he could use some or all of the money raised by the sale of players (Alderweireld and Rose in particular) but I guess that if they received any offers/enquiries they didn’t get close to Levys prices.
We’ve been in not-dissimilar situations whilst the stadium finance was the anvil round our necks and our spend was pretty much entirely driven by our sales.
Maybe an unchanged squad will gel for them better this season (we’ve hoped that before, and always been disappointed…).

  9. Jammy, Torrieras presence in front of the CBs will (hopefully!) make a big difference.

  10. That will be the death of me , the day when I start to listen to , or respect the opinions of the erstwhile, disgruntled, dishonest and quisling leaning opinions of our our former players .

Nice and funny snippet of our neighbours , Tony !

  11. Andy Mack – Absolutely, hopefully the lack of a proper DM in front of them was what caused us to concede so more goals, rather than the players that we have in our defence, but still, our backline does not fill me with a huge amount of hope.
