Our regular review of the transfer market usually hits around 110 players arriving and the entire squad leaving, but this summer matters are running slowly because of the new regulations about balancing the books.  With the League already deducting points from two clubs, with another Chelsea investigation up and running, and no sign to an end of the 115 charges against Manchester City, nor of Manchester City’s legal case against the Premier League, things seem to be more in the hands of the solicitors rather than the club managers.

But still the media has managed to make up 73 incoming players and 30 leaving.  Normally they get two percent or sometimes three percent right so that would be  two or three incoming – so perhaps holdings one’s breath is not going to be a very safe option at the moment.
