Why do clubs make such appalling errors with some transfers?

  1. Transfer happen and don’t happen for varies reasons , one I do know about was Tony Cottee supposedly to Arsenal . A good friend knew Cottee’s agent and the story goes everything was agreed for him to join Arsenal but at the last seconds Everton came in and Cottee’s agent then asked George Graham manager at the time if out of curtosey to speak with Everton GG agreed to this . The next thing that happened was a telephone conversation between GG and Cottee’s agent where the agent said Everton have offered £5k per week more to which GG said you better sign for them as your more interested in money than playing for Arsenal , one that got away .

  2. I cannot get to any games so have to endure watching Arsenal games on tv. I now no longer have to listen to northern so-called pundits and presenters as I turn off the sound! However, I should not really be amazed at the vitriol towards Arsenal and especially towards Mr Arteta from all types of pundits once the game was over including from a number of so-called Arsenal supporters.
The game was settled by an amazing free kick. Up until that goal it seemed to me that Arsenal and Liverpool were very similar on the playing field. If the free kick had missed and the final score had been 0-0 I feel that the pundits might well have reported that the Arsenal game plan had worked and Arsenal had deserved to leave Anfield with a well earned draw!
I thought that Arsenal were better than Liverpool in the first half and somewhat unfortunate the second half.
Liverpool have yet to play at the Emirates.
After three games Arsenal are deemed to be a robotic defence minded team whilst playing non attacking brave football, whilst Liverpool are unquestionably the bees knees …..and remain unbeaten……and superior to all. Furthermore Mr Arteta and the coaching team do not know how to win against the top teams…..The vitriolic nonsense continues whether it be through TV, newspapers, radio or more to the point so-called Arsenal supporters using Social Media as a means of venting criticism of Mr Arteta. I must have watched the game through rose tinted glasses because I saw Arsenal try to stop Liverpool scoring (which is half the purpose of a game) whilst trying to score themselves but being prevented by a good Liverpool team. The resultant free kick was a bit special. One can criticise VAR for not awarding a penalty for a Liverpool handball which was deemed not a purpose situation. VAR is a useful devise in the game but operated by a subjective viewpoint without any course for objection, at least not until a game has finished and a result stands and is unable to be changed. So on it all goes as it did last season and the season before and……..
Come on you Arsenal fans, this club and its workers need 100% support not the vitriolic attack on its workers both on and off the pitch. 3 games have been played with the team doing well despite the 1-0 defeat. Use Social Media to praise the efforts and show positive motivation. Verbally attack the powers that operate the game if one must show disappointment, not the team that we all follow and want to succeed.

  3. The ex-referees’ frequent justification for not giving a handball penalty to Arsenal is “The ball’s come at him from very close. Not for me.”

Mike Dean added a new twist at the weekend – “To be fair, the ball has travelled a long way. His arm has never gone toward the ball. The ball has just hit him and, for me, it is the correct decision on field.”

    Different rules for Arsenal again?

  4. @ Seismic
Can you remember the penalty given against Merino in the European Cup against one of the Inters the ball came off his knee onto his arm which was in front of his chest , not a word it was accepted , the same as Merino being punched in the head by Sommer with the ball gone .
