Arsenal Squad as at 16:00 on Wednesday 8/8/18

Firstly here is my list of the players who I believe are still with the club and count as over 21 as at January 01 this year, the qualifying date for this coming season. These players are those that will form our maximum list of 25 for the coming season. They are arranged by their date of birth with Petr Cech the oldest at the top and Alex Iwobi, the youngest at the bottom.

All PL clubs are limited to a maximum of 25 players over the age of 21 within their registered squad so we must trim our squad by at least two before registration with the PL. This also means that is we want to sign anyone else before close of play on Thursday we have to make space in the squad by releasing additional players.
Of the senior players a minimum of 8 have to be homegrown. Here is the list sorted with homegrown players at the top and non homegrown lower down. I have counted them separately for convenience

We have no problems here at the moment except that if we want to sign another non-homegrown player this season we must first ‘lose’ one of our existing 17 as we are already at the maximum limit.

For these players the question of home-grown or not doesn’t apply, most will have HG status when they reach 21.
I have tried to ensure that my list is up to date, but the version I had been working on got corrupted and I have had to go back to an earlier one and it is quite possible that I may have missed something in doing the update again.

Good effort to compile. Macey has now gone on loan so 26 left.

The versions I have been working on keep getting corrupted. Anyways, remove Macey on loan, Ospina is a certainty, so effectively that would take us down to 25 and with 9 HG. it retains Carl and Cohen, both I would love to make the gap to first tteam.
Aside from this we have Campbell, who’s contract must be a year longer than reported, or an extnsion triggered. Everywhere has him as in his last year. Cohen and Cech having a further year, along with Perez, Welbeck annd Aaron. If you don’t tinker with LB, you need to be lucky at CB as well in terms of injuries. Cambpell and Perez currently give you options. but were you to sell these after the purchase window closes, then you’d again find yourself short of wide midfielders.
As Joel has featured little, along with Cohen and Carl, Monreal and Perez, I question the clubs commitment to these individuals.
Interesting couple of days. we can loan people and likely have a number of options available to us in this respect. seeing what we can drag out of the youth set up, all very risky. The amosphere is optimistic and progressive at least. A dud from Chelsea 0-0, with ManU scraping by a late returning Lyon side.
Napoli take that thrashing out on Dortmund. While ManU get the rights to kick off the season n another friday with Oliver, you know the result right mate, and the clubs profile is increasedwith an early start but some extra time.

Thanks Andrew very helpful. Matt Macey is on loan for the season now and I can’t see Cohen Bramall being included in our first team squad.
The tricky decision will be for the Europa League squad. The B list rule (I.e. u21 rule) for that is different from the premier league rule. To qualify a player not only has to be born after 1 jan 1997 but also have been with the club for 2 continuous years. So for Mavropanos and Guendouzi – who would would likely pick up most of their minutes in the Europa League – they will have to be included on the non home grown A list of 17 for the Europa League.
Where is Sokratis?
Chambers who is not only a home grown but an England native that is expected to be at Arsenal this summer is off to Fulham FC today on a season loan. Who else at the Ems will be off on sale or on a loan out between today and tomorrow is yet to be known. But definitely, some more Gunners such as Ospina, Welbeck, Perez and Jenkinson and just maybe Elneny could to be out of the Ems either on sales or on loan out on or before 5 :00 PM GMT tomorrow. But will that allow one audacious winger to come in to the Emirates Stadium? Maybe, just maybe. But wouldn’t it be a laughing stuff should Arsenal decided to keep Jenkinson over Chambers who they’ve sent on loan to Fulham?
Arsenal.com has Mavropanos’s birth date as December 11, 1996. So that makes him already over 21 as at the cut off date of 1/Jan/2018.

I think that’s an error on the Arsenal website. All other sites, including the Premier League site list Mavropanos’ date of birth as December 11, 1997
One Space, as Perez joins Wesh Ham and Ospina, Besiktas, with Macey on Loan. SO Danny and Carl, I’d certainly keep the LB if we hve no left footed defender, mayve fate conspired to give my boy a chance.
Mavrapanos, is cool, they tyoped.
What I find interesting is that among the homegrown players we had 3 GKs, besides the other 3 (ok, now 2, with Ospina to Turkey). Now that Macey is on loan, that number is down to 2 homegrown GKs. Ilyev would be the next logical choice for a loan, hopefully Martinez doesn’t decide he’s had enough. But surely there’s no point in keeping them all on the list. AMN and Nelson to the first team should compensate for the loss of homegrown players.
