“Stan Kroenke ‘approves £250m Arsenal transfer spree’ as Mikel Arteta eyes five signings” so says the Express who add that Barcelona are having a “fire sale” to solve their financial crisis. They give us three players – Philippe Coutinho (“a decent alternative to Odegaard”) and two new names: Sergi Roberto Roberto “the perfect replacement for Bellerin” and “Samuel Umtiti” noting that “Arsenal’s pursuit of England star White proves that Arteta wants a centre-back this summer”. Except that there’s no proof that Arsenal were or are after Ben White, beyond the journalists.
And who’d believe a journalist? Especially with Football.London yet again leading with “The Gunners endured a torrid time under Mikel Arteta’s tutelage last season, finishing eighth in the Premier League and not qualifying for Europe.”
And given that they have now tipped 82 players who Arsenal are looking to buy.
How many times do we have to tell them – he changed the system in a revolutionary way and for the last two thirds of the season Arsenal had a record second only to Manchester City. But will they listen? No. Why won’t they listen? Because knocking Arsenal is their modus operandi.
That and making up transfers. Here’s the list…
