So no losses in the league in the last four seasons, the only defeat being on penalties in a League Cup group game where we lost 4 – 2 on penalties following a goalless draw. In the 8 league games we have a 28/2 goal record so an average score of 3.5 goals a game and 0.25 against.
One Brighton player well known to Gooners is Danielle Carter who left us after the 2019/20 season, initially to Reading and then to Brighton a year later. She isn’t the player she was in her Arsenal heyday but is still a threat in front of goal (2 goals in 9 appearances for Brighton to date, 28 goals in 101 appearances for Arsenal).
Last season Kayleigh Green and Inessa Kaagman were joint top scorers with 4 (Kayleigh’s were all from open play, 3 of Inessa’s were penalties. Aileen Whelan and Emma Koivisto had 3 and Danielle was one of a group of players on 2. Brighton averaged a fraction over one goal a game.

My prediction-:
Arsenal to win by 4 – 0

My expectations for the season
1: Arsenal and Chelsea to come first and second in the WSL with a very close finish again. Both teams shouldn’t lose against any of the other teams, although they may well not beat the chasing pack in all games.
2: The head of the chasing pack will be Manchester United, Manchester City and Spurs. United have strengthened their attack having signed Nikita Parris from us in the summer, City are definitely weaker with the loss of Kiera Walsh, Spurs have strengthened but from a lower starting level
3: Leicester will struggle to avoid a relegation battle this year and their survival will probably require them to get more than the four wins they managed last season. The other teams who will probably struggle are Everton and Aston Villa along with newcomers Liverpool.

Man. Utd have lost Jackie Groenen to PSG. That takes the shine off their transfer dealings.
Half time and Arsenal are one nil up. An awful start for Brighton who were down to 10 after only six minutes when they committed a last player foul. From my seat I thought it was a penalty but it was just outside the area.
Brighton had a great chance to open the scoring following a quick break but the ball slipped wide of the net.
Arsenal have dominated the half and but for the Brighton keeper the game would be long over. Without doubt she has been the player of the game so far
Out goal came from Kim Little finding the net from inside the six yard box.

Well done for the final score prediction. I thought the referee was poor tonight, making some bad decisions throughout the game. I see Arsenal were penalised for yet another foul-throw.
So, Man. City and Chelsea both lost this weekend. The league table is currently looking good.
