In normal years we would now be a third of the way through the season, however there are a lot of games that need to be rearranged. Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Newcastle, Notts Forest, Southampton, Tottenham, West Ham and Wolves are all playing their 12th game. Arsenal, Brighton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Leeds, Liverpool, Man City and Man United are all playing their 11th games of the season. Fair to say that there will be a lot of fixture congestion later in the season as all of the missing games are rescheduled.
Tottenham are the first team to have a referee for three matches as they had Simon Hooper for their midweek loss against Man United. It was his first United game.
Looking at the number of times each club has had referees twice Liverpool are way out with all of the other clubs only having had six referees so far for their 11 matches. Chelsea, Fulham and Leicester have had the biggest variety of referees each only having a single referee doing two matches. Why are Liverpool so out of line with every other team?

Well done to them both.
Since the PGMOL has no accountability, we’ll never know. But probably because they are the competitive club of the former Big 2 in English football. As MU has fallen down the table so has their treatment by the refs, it seems to me. Of course this is an opinion and not an actual study but I watch a lot of football. They’re not getting the calls, for and against, they used to get and there’s no more “Fergie time”. Makes a difference.
