An end of the day Arsenal quiz: there’s just one question

By Tony Attwood

Being of a certain age – and indeed being older than a certain age – I like to make sure I knock off by 5pm at the latest, and when possible sooner.

But today drifted on, and I am only closing down now at around a quarter past five in the afternoon, UK time

However my final bit of research for the day made me wonder which clubs had outdone Arsenal the most during the Premier League era.   And then a question came to mind.  One that I felt I could ask you just in case you were the slightest bit interested.

Here it goes…

The question

Which clubs have scored more goals against Arsenal, than Arsenal have scored against them, in the Premier League?   And the “in the Premier League” bit is key – so I am not including FA Cup games nor games played in the old Football League Division One days and the like.

Of course, you could look it up, but that would spoil the fun.   Two of us here just spent a rather jolly few minutes trying to work it out.  And we were wrong.

I’ll put up the answer tomorrow morning, UK time just in case you are interested.

And if you think such a question is a tedious load of old cobblers well, sorry.  Send in one of your own.  Something that could be asked at the end of the day and which might interest one or two people.  You don’t have to send me the answer – just as long as you promise to be around the next morning to put up the answer for anyone who was interested.

By all means post your answers below – as long as they are your answers and you didn’t look them up.

Have a good evening, or if you are in Australia, good morning.

  1. Without having give a great deal of thought, but while still working, I’d say Manchester United only.

  2. Possibly a trick question. It’s natural to think man u and pool, but what about clubs with a short life in the PL? Brighton, Southampton, ten there is Norwich. My brain is telling me there is a one season we didn’t do too well against. However my brain often lies to me so I am uncertain on that one.

  3. Charles

I see what you mean. Perhaps one, or a least a few short stays, and yet when they were up tended to give us a hard time. A Stoke, West Brom type. Hmmmm interesting?

On that basis I’m going for…….Leeds? Nope, absolutely stuffed them a couple of times. Grrrr.

    Nope, I’m going for Stoke.

  4. After all that it was the 2 most obvious, Man Utd, as Bernard and I first thought, and of course Liverpool.
