One of the key approaches this season, which we have seen grow over the last couple of years is for publications to announce a transfer story as if it is totally new, when it fact it has been reported in other publications several times, sometimes over several months.

Lines like “XYZ Transfers have been told that…” are used even when there is no mention of anyone telling anyone else anything, but rather the story being lifted from another site which ran it the week before.   The approach means that what was already an insane situation with names of players coming up all the time but no transfer happening, has just got more bonkers.

We are now on 44 players Arsenal are signing.  At the normal rate of a maximum of 3% of these tales of players being signed being accurate (based on the percentages from the last 10 seasons, that means maybe one might make it.  Perhaps two if the journalists have hit lucky.
