“Bukayo is ready to go,” Arteta said. “All the careful things are already done. Now it’s about putting him on the grass in the right moments. But he’s pushing because he really wants it. We’ve had to hold him back, even.”
That is the quote from Arsenal, which makes it sound like Saka will come on as a sub.
Meanwhile of course pointless international matches of the most annoying variety continue to take their toll. Riccardo Calafiori sustained a knee injury playing for Italy in the Nations League quarter-final tie against Germany. It was ever thus.
It is reported however that Jurrien Timber is available again after illness.
And so for the team The Standard goes with
Raya;
Timber; Gabriel, Saliba, Lewis-Skelly;
Partey, Rice, Odegaard;
Saka, Merino, Martinelli
The Metro confirmed the thoughts about Merino with the report that “Mikel Merino, who continued his goal scoring form for Spain during the international break, is likely to continue in his new role up top.” Up top is jounro speak for “centre forward”.
The Metro opens with its interesting headline “Is Arsenal vs Fulham on TV?” but we all know the answer to that. And in fact they confirm the trend – everyone is coming up with the same team.
However, although non-ticket holders can’t watch the Arsenal game tonight, there is a match you can watch, although not live. It is the under 21s latest victory which is now available on video….

And because we are suddenly no longer appearing on NewsNow – more on that tomorrow- I have been looking at what is appearing on the internet at the moment, and it appears there is a whole range of adverts offering tickets for this match. I would be most cautious about that if I were you.
As it happens, although a season ticket holder, I can’t go to the game tonight, and so I did the required thing and put the ticket online on the club’s site. It sold in ten minutes. Thus I would be very cautious about anything that is suggested as being available for tonight’s game coming from any source other than Arsenal.
And I hope that by tomorrow I hope I might have more information as to why we are not on NewsNow. Or (as I would much prefer) that we are back, and it was all a blip.
