There is an article on FFC that has the headline, “Arsenal can help Gyokeres hit Haaland levels by signing £78m “superstar”. I meantion this as this is a story the webiste has previously covered as a transfer rumour, and it marks an interesting development – sites not just “reporting” a rumour, but using the approach to promote a possible transfer. But we now also have sites that are telling us Arsenal are going to buy someone – but they can’t tell us who – which seems a bit of a non-story. I’m just mentioning one of them – but there have been many.
Still, we have crawled up to 61 players listed, although this is only a fraction of what we have had by this stage in previous seasons. Maybe it is just the early bout of buying by Arsenal that has put the inventors of these stories off, or maybe they have got a bit fed up with it being pointed out that only 3% of their tales actually turn out to be true in each window.
Either way it is a pretty poor show by the creators of fantasy transfer rumours. I wonder what they have been doing instead.. We do however, have the story from Givemesport which says that Arsenal are going to sign someone but they are not going to tell us who.

In my opinion the Biggest suprise was the wasted money spent on Madueke who is no better than what we already have in the squad. That money could have went towards Eke or Rodrygo.
Just an observation from the ManU game, to accommodate Gyokeres more, we need to create a faster build up play and make him more of a focal point. We seem to be missing his runs a lot, which is down to bad anticipation from our midfielders and the same old passes to our forward wingers only for them to back pass the ball back to midfield and slow up our forward progression. It’s become too predictable.
Daveg , Rodrygo as a winger I can understand if Martinelli is your target but Eze is not a winger and I have to ask you who would you drop for him ?
Eze naturally will come inside and leave the left flank exposed if you use him as a wide player and if you use him inside is it Rice , Zubimendi or Odegaard to go ?
I think Eze could be another attacking midfielder, so change to a back 3, 4 middle & 3 upfront. It will help our forward play plenty and give opposing sides something to consider. Whose ball will be for Goykeres????
For another view on Gyokeres from Wayne Rooney on his BBC podcast & critiquing pundits Neville and Carragher: –
Rooney offered a different perspective. “To be fair to him he didn’t have much support at times,” he said. “He was a bit isolated, he did show his strength, there was one time he ran into the channel and pushed [Matthijs] De Ligt off the ball. You don’t become a bad player after one game. I actually played against him a couple of years ago when he was at Coventry and back then you could tell he was a good player.”
Sky should contract him as pundit as he seems more balanced & logical, maybe because he has a managers mindset.
