Tottenham do Arsenal are gigantic favour right at the end

By Tony Attwood

Tottenham are in a bit of a quandary.   For billions of pounds they have built themselves a new stadium with all sorts of whizzo effects and arrangements, which for the life of me I can’t now remember.    And they keep losing.  Over and over again they lose.   Even when I want them to get a win or at least a draw, they lose.

So it was that I stopped watching about ten minutes before the end of the game and went to have my evening meal kindly prepared by my housemate who has no interest in football.

We chatted, I had my regular glass of red wine (regular except when I am going out) and came back into the sitting room to see that against all the odds the Totts had got a point.   Exactly what Arsenal needed.   I wonder if they even realised!

So the table now reads…..

Team P W D L F A GD Pts
1 Arsenal 24 16 5 3 46 17 29 53
2 Manchester City 24 14 5 5 49 23 26 47
3 Aston Villa 24 14 4 6 35 26 9 46

I really didn’t believe Tottenham could rouse themselves enough to get a win.  Especially at home, as their home games table is pretty awful, being down near the bottom – or it would do if people could keep their websites up to date.   Because I went straight to the site that gives me the final results, and there we were at 1842, long after the game was over, and it was showing ManC winning.   But they didn’t.  It was a draw, and that suits me and the Arsenal rather well.

So at last, Tottenham have got real value out of their stadium.   Tottenhama had some vague idea that the stadium itself would bring success, but that never happened until tonight.

When I saw the start of the second half, it looked to me as if a lot of Tot fans didn’t t come back after half time as Tottenham resorted to what we might call a more physical approach.

Now I never expected this because put it all together and it is even worse than that, for in the last 22 games, home and away, Tottenham have had 5 wins, while in the last 15 games, it has been just 2 wins.    Go down to the last six games, and there are no wins.  But tonight’s draw was like golddust.

As things stand, it looks very much like Tottenham choosing to build their new stadium without having a team that could win there has been a classic error.   They are a decent away form team, but rubbish at home.   But tonight they did the business and I am delighted.

Apologies for spelling mistakes here, but I am not quite myself.
