When the world turns against us there’s nowhere to go

The most fulsome apologies.  I handle Untold Arsenal from my home in the EasMidlands, and although we have beautiful blue skies, last night, where I live we had an enormous storm which knocked out the power supplies.   I am writing this on a battery-powered laptop and hoping I can actually get it online before I run out of battery power.

And the sad point I now reflect upon is that in a matter of weeks, this – the World Cup, the power cuts, everything will all have been forgotten, and life will carry on.

For Arsenal, that looks good, what with the promised new signings, but for football as a whole, it looks like Fifa’s appalling grip on the game gets stronger every time we look.   Perhaps the one big thing we can look forward to is that we might remember for a while the value of doing what Scotland has done, which is doing it one’s own way

In reality, it doesn’t matter how good or bad your team is, if you do it your own way.   Fortunately, in Arsenal we have a club that does things its own way, and ignores the media.   If the club had taken note of what the press were saying, Arteta would have been sacked long before the completion of his two eighth-place finishes.  And if not, then sacked after coming 5th.

And if not, most certainly sacked after three runner-up positions, as was demanded by some readers.  But the club carried on and we got the trophy.   And ok we didn’t win the Euro but coming second is certainly better than every other team except one that is funded by just about the richest state in the world.

As soon as I have power and internet connection back I will get Untold running again, but for the moment, I must leave you to your own devices..
