Since 2009 we have been trying to build a complete history of Arsenal FC. And of course it inevitably has turned out to be more complicated than that sounds. Not least because some bits of information are hard to find, some have been wrongly reported over the years, and no one can quite agree what is important and what isn’t.
Anyway we have let the site grow so that we now have over 4,400 articles covering elements of Arsenal’s history – I suspect the biggest collection of data on the history of the club that has ever been gathered.
We were particularly encouraged to keep going by the discovery of a range of documents (particularly those from the early days of the club) that appear to be completely missing from the official Arsenal FC archives. So with that data now seemingly gone forever we were encouraged to try and put our material into a more accessible format: the chronology.
This is being highlighted on the home page of this site and is being organised by years. You can of course still search for individual issues and items through the search box on each page, but the chronology aims to give an overview of how the club developed, – as seen through a series of articles.
Now when we have finished sorting out the chronology we’ll try and fill in more gaps both with new articles and with extra entries in the indexes. If you had either an article are simply a date and an event on that date, and you find it is not listed in our chronology please drop me a note: Tony@schools.co.uk
I know that at the moment I write this the chronology is far from finished but we are trying to improve it day by day – and please do write to me with details of omissions.
