Some people see things as they are and ask why ? I dream of things that never were and ask , why not ? – George Bernard Shaw.
Is Barcelona unwanted Luis Suárez set to join Arsenal in a shocking move to England, and Arsenal to bolster their toothless forward line? After last week’s humiliating thrashing by Bayern Munich, all the players, except for Lionel Messi, were effectively – persona non grata , and put up for sale. Will Arsenal able to stomach this?Arsenal had much earlier bid for Suárez , but the offer of 1 Pound above the set buy out clause, was initially termed derisory by Liverpool, then the club denied there was even a buy out clause, asking what the Arsenal management were smoking; before finally, very much later, the American owner laughingly admitting that he lied. He had embraced the new concept in trustworthiness that was to become America’s norm. That of lying through your teeth , and denying everything later as it being misunderstood. I even heard that a president had been elected using these very same tactics!
While Barcelona are having a enforced clear out, they are also on the look out for new reinforcements. One of their earlier targets was of course, Willian, formerly of Chelsea, but who has now signed for Arsenal on a three year contract. For free . Now that he is an Arsenal player, he can be sold to a ‘suitable ‘ team. For a suitable fee, agreeable to both teams.
Incredulous, you say ? Not really , as Arsenal have done it before . The more senior members will fondly remember this event – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clive_Allen(Clive)) Allen signed for Arsenal in the summer of 1980 ( from QPR) for a fee of £1.25m, but he did not play a single competitive match (although he did play three matches in Arsenal’s 1980–81 pre-season friendly campaign). He shortly moved on to Crystal Palace in a swap deal with Kenny Sansom.’

Footnote from editor:
This has just appeared: “BBC pundit suggests Arsenal are about to make very smart transfer move” Wow, shock horror. And that appears today on… HITC.
The story is that Arsenal are thinking of bringing in Gabriel and letting Ainsley Maitland-Niles go.
Surely it couldn’t be that some websites have forgotten the fact that the word “news” actually begins with the word “new” and simply sticks an “s” on the end to imply that there are lots of things here that are new.
And finally an update on tonight’s game against Milton Keynes Dons. Sports Mole confirm that the game has already been played and MK Dons won 1-0. Actually to be fair they have that listed under “Form Guide” which is still about as useless as a useless thing for which you can’t find any use as the game was actually played on 10 February 1993. The Dons also beat Arsenal in 1992, 3-2.
The ESPN page offers us a summary which says, and I quote in full, ” ”
There is, we regret to say, no team news as yet. And you can quote us on that.
The game is live on Arsenal.com. Currently minute 29 and Arsenal 2-0 up. Elbe you passing the ball into an empty net from 35yards following an intercepted clearance and Nketiah with a good finish from a Saka cross from the right wing. A goof speedy move.
As I type MK Dons have scored a big deflection off Holdings head.

Great header from McGuiness to make it three one.
Reiss Nelson with a fourth from the penalty slot.
A first workout of this season and no injuries.
No great conclusions to draw yet.
Good to get a win under our belts in preparation for the curtain opener against Liverpool. Nice to see the youngsters being given a run out.
