31 players tipped to be coming to Arsenal in January and the major culprits

Untold Arsenal: Very much NOT the World Cup

By Sir Hardly Anyone

If you want an example of how exactitude and straightforwardness don’t go with football reporting.  And that point was made particularly strongly by the notorious Football.London website (known unaffectionately here as FoLo) commentary which begins “It’s the halfway point of the season”.

No it isn’t – it is the third-way point of the season (36.84% if you want to be exact).  And if you can’t even get that right, what chance is there of getting any transfer predictions right?  And if percentages are not your thing, try and maths.  There are 38 games in a season, and so 19 games is half way.  And just checking in case those pesky administrators at the Premier League have slipped any games in while I am not looking, there have not been 19 games played.  Here’s the top of the table to prove my point…

Team P W D L F A GD Pts
1 Arsenal 14 12 1 1 33 11 22 37
2 Manchester City 14 10 2 2 40 14 26 32

So not half way through.  And if they can’t get that right, what chance of having insider information on Arsenal’s transfer dealings?

Here is the current list of players Arsenal are trying to buy (according to sources)…

Chart of Shame

Here is a list of just some of the sources cited above.  What we plan to do in the near future is to total the number of reports each one has given and then at the end of the transfer window see which website got the most right, and of course which got the most wrong.  More on the chart in the next posting.

  1. Nevermind FIFA and PGMOL, this is what we want, transfer rumours, with 31 new players I reckon we must have a great chance of finishing in the top four, COYG
