Which Arsenal transfer tale is being repeated the most often?

By Sir Hardly Anyone

With Arsenal knocking copy in short supply there have been a few pieces of late in which websites have turned on Edu (who is generally considered the star of the show by a lot of the media in terms of seeing through Arsenal transfers, especially for Brazilians).  Elsewhere there is talk of having White and Saliba at the heart of defence when football returns.

Meanwhile we have been having a look at the way websites re-hash the same tale over and over in order to make it look as if they constantly finding new tales to bring forth.  So for our occasional list of players being mentioned as coming to Arsenal in January, in addition to the 37 players now noted, we’ve added two more columns on the right.

No represents the number of different articles that we’ve seen that have mentioned the transfer.  Of course we can’t track them all, but as a snapshot it gives an idea of the comparative popularity of the story.

Rpt shows the number of times the same website has run the story.   This is an interesting number in that it does give an indication of just how much the website is padding out its content by re-running an old story to make it look like new.

The top transfer man at the moment is Mykhaylo Mudryk with 15 mentions, four of which come from a website repeating itself by rerunning the story.

Journalists copying their own material and re-hashing it as new???? Whoever heard of such a thing!
