The Index of 64 players that Arsenal have so far been tipped to sign this summer.

By Sir Hardly Anyone

While last season we kept publishing all the transfer index charts on one page (including those coming and those leaving) the Index is getting so big already (with still 8 days before the window creaks open) that we’re having to split them.

Mind you at this rate we should beat last season’s total of around 115 in July leaving us free to climb to dizzy new heights.

Of course we could just publish a list of every player currently working in the any of the top two leagues in every country in Europe to give us a list, but no, we stick to our fundamental notion of only mentioning men who have been listed as on the radar (or some such phrase) for Arsenal.

So here is the latest list of players coming in, in volume 12 of the Transfer Index – the one feature on Untold that we’re fairly sure none of the bloggettas will nick, as it makes them look a bit silly.

But just in case any bloggetta editors are looking in, here’s a guide to the nomenclature

  • Update means the details have been updated
  • New means the details are new

OK if you have got that, off we go…

The players Arsenal are tipped to sign this summer in more or less alphabetical order.

  1. As a Gooner, if there is one Arsenal incoming transfer knowledge I have leernt, is Arsenal rarely sign any of the media hyped players or any of the Gooners’ wished players. Did the media know or any of us knew they’ll sign Kolasinac? He isn’t a media hyped player nor a Gooners’ wished player for Arsenal, is he? Moreover, Le Prof has categorically stated at the end of last season that he will only do 1-3 new signings to reinforced his current 25 man first team squad out of which Yaya Sanogo has left and Kolasinac has come in into the team. Thus leaving only 1-2 more signings left for Le prof to do to concludes his summer singnigs this window if he’s to held to his words.

Therefore, the media linking Arsenal with 65 new possible singings so far into this summer window out of them Arsenal may not sign one of the 65 can only be attributed to transfer rumour milling by the media as Arsenal signings under Le Prof watch are mostly hidden until Arsenal have submitted a bid for a player.

In addition to this, its a well known fact that if Arsenal are to do the remaining 1-2 new signings Le Prof has reportedly said he’ll do this summer, for those newcomer signings to come in, 1-2 current 25 first teamers have to go out either on loan or be sold altogether. And the issue of the top goalkeeper Szczsney retuning into the fold of the first team is an important matter to keep in watch.

I think Arsenal will not announce any further signing this summer until maybe after the Confederations Cup that’s currently taking place in Russia. It could be Le Prof and the Arsenal scouts have one or two targets participating in this CC and who is or are not media kind hyped players who they want to further observe his or their performances at this CC competition before committing themselves to sign him or them. But I wouldn’t know as am just having a thought.

  2. I have not seen most of these: mind you i have not looked.

    But this:
    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
smacked me in the face, although he will only (come/be coming?) if Alexis goes.

    Kylian Mbappe
If he comes he will come regardless of if Alexis stays or goes.

But who of the two would you rather pay the most money for?
    Proven or promising?

  3. I can’t help but get excited about Mbappe. My only issue is, that he has specifically stated, that if he were to come to a club like Arsenal, it would merely only be a “stepping-stone”. It’s quite clear that he eventually wants to end up at either Barcelona or Real. If we paid over £100m for him, then how much could his price possibly go up from there? Would the re-sale value really be worth it, for a player that we know would want to leave after a couple years?

  4. Excellent point Jammy. And is he really proven yet? It’s a ridiculous amount of money for a youngster who hasn’y actually been on this earth to have done anything on a consistent basis.

  5. @ Goonermikey – Exactly! Apparently the price Monaco are asking is a ridiculous £130m. I don’t think any 18 year old is worth that and I can’t imagine Arsenal paying such a huge fee (understandably).

The whole thing would revolve around how much he can be sold on for. I can’t see that being much more than £130m (and perhaps even less, if he doesn’t turn out to be the “world-beater” that some are claiming him to be). If he was ready to commit his future to Arsenal, then I would have less digressions, but it’s quite clear that he doesn’t want to.
