Since Liverpool beat Arsenal in the 2001 FA Cup final, Arsenal have appeared in the Cup final seven times and won the lot. Which means we have quite a feeling for Wembley.
As for the Charity Community who knows where the money goes Shield Arsenal and Liverpool are equal second in the appearance league and obviously today climb one closer to Manchester U at the top.

Looking back through the last ten years Manchester United have won the Community Shield four times, Arsenal and Manchester City three times each, and that’s it. No one else has won it. Chelsea are the great runners-up having played in the match five times in the last ten years and lost each and every time, to Manchester United, Manchester City (twice), and Arsenal (twice).
Arsenal have won seven of the last nine Shield matches they have appeared in, while (excluding matches against Tottenham Wanderers) Liverpool have won just one of their last seven matches at Wembley. Arsenal on the other hand have lost just one of their last 12 matches at Wembley again excluding games against the Wanderers.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored two goals in both of his last two games at Wembley for Arsenal (vs Manchester C and Chelsea) – only Alexis Sanchez with five has scored more goals for Arsenal at Wembley. Aaron Ramsey also got four.
Liverpool have made one appearance in the Community Shield past decade – drawing 1-1 last season with Man City.
However looked at overall the past decade has not seen us do that well against Liverpool. We have won just one of the last eleven games between the two clubs, four being draws. The change of fortunes came after the 2014/15 season, but if we look at the ten games leading up to January 2016 we find that Arsenal won five, drew four and lost just one.

Fascinating listening to the french talking idiots. Until the goal, it was all about the best team in this worlds galaxy, Arsenal with a totally wasted season finishing 8th, just a mention of winning the Cup, the defense is awful. No mention of us beating Pool, City and Chelsea in the last games of the season
Then we start hearing comments about Liverpool having just ad 2 weeks to prepare…no mention of the fact that Arsenal palyed a week longer, did they not ?!?
Well at least Arsenal bashing is more subdued. One of them even just said : you can see the will of Arsenal players not to lose a ball, not to let Liverpool keep it…. now they are even lauding the Arsenal defense….
As for Elneny, well if as Arteta has said : clean slate, any player showing me he is good has a chance, looks like he did show something… and so far, no much to say. And say what you want, we’ve got some stability in the line-up and IMHO it does show.
Pretty good show…it almost counts as silverware, doesn’t it?
They had possession and Robertson put in some good low crosses but in general we held tight. Their goal was a bit lucky as the ball bounced around before falling at the feet of red shirt. We didn’t have many chances in the second half but we spurned a couple of nice one in the first.
Regardless of the outcome, this was a huge improvement over what we saw a twelvemonth ago…we probably conceded two dozen crosses.
So…well done boys two weeks training left to iron out our performance.
So now, post match, it ain’t Arsenal’s merit. Salah was not in good shape, they did not have much space…and if they had scored earler they would have won…. like Arsenal did not win, it’s Liverpool who did not play up to their standard.
And Liverpool did not give a damn, Klopp just wants to keep his group together, winning was not a priority, etc…
Just so f…g ridiculous and stupid.
And Liverool have won in Wembley 1 out of 8 or is it now 9 last games… but then again, they are the best team in all the galaxies… and Arsenal such specialists in failure.
In the mean time, here we are opening a bottle of champagne and are all happy.
PS : this is our 16th Community Shield, but we’ve won 14 FA cups… So we won 2 when another team had a double ?
I don’t care about any of the commentaries, we’ve just won two matches at Wembley. The commentators always knock us but the fact is that we have just won twice at Wembley. I know the Shield doesn’t matter, but the growth in the belief of the players in themselves most certainly does. And that will be building.

They can all go to hell, we’ve won at Wembley again…someone probably has some record somewhere
And as far as I am concerned, it was a brilliant game, with some moves originating on our won goal line and triangulating in the midst of the galactic world champs who never got close to bring us into their box.
Our ‘shaky’ defence was on top of it, our players were fighting every ball. Pool were totally outclassed for minutes.
And this sinking feeling I used to have about us taking an equalizer, or just a goal, well it’s not there any more. We can beat any team in the PL, and have proven it. So watching Arsenal play is not a stressful experience anymore !
And we’ve got ourselves the confirmation that we have a second world class goalie.
And just look at who did not play : Lacazette, Ceballos, Saliba, Mustaif, Willian, etc….

Well done to the lads and Arteta again played the, safe approach of counrer attacking unlike Wenger’s mission to kill. AMN and Xhaka were immense and AMN was rightly judged Motm.
Infact I would say it’ was a Wenger’s team all over the places coached by Wenger’s son. 9 players on the pitch yesterday were Wenger’s sigingns or from Arsenals Academy. We can proudly say Wenger has done it again.
