A rather uneventful game it seemed. Not many talking points. No balls over the line that weren’t given. No penalties given for nothing.

Manchester United got the majority of the calls but not really over the top at first sight.

So a score of around 70% for the ref which is just enough one could say.

  1. Great work with the ref reviews, I know its too early, but it already seems like a trend is approaching which suggests that Arsenal get hard done more often!

I do have a suggestion though. Is it possible to make a sister site, say Refereeing Untold, or something of the kind, in which all these reviews can be posted. If the CL reviews are only done for Arsenal, then I suggest that they stay off that. Ensure that everything is done to make the general public of non-Arsenal fans realise that this venture is not biased in any way.

On a slightly different note, having a new site for these reviews would also allow for better presentation of the data, as the new site would be designed specifically to accommodate these reviews.

  2. Matoo, sssshhtt don’t tell it any further but there are some guys working on this.

And I must say that I get a bit excited by the idea that we get a separate website for this. And by the things they tell me it will be something that will be able to gets lots of data and more numbers available than we have now.

But don’t tell it any further 😉

  3. Walter,
sorry to eavesdrop on you and Matoo, but at least I’m not phone-hacking to get the info! (If this goes any further you’re likely to become a naughty boy poster child at The Sun.)

  4. Ref 03,
Was Cleverly’s name actually named Cleverly before minute 48 or right after minute 48? (Couldn’t agree more with your NC! spot on.)

  5. @bob – It was a typo. He was called Cleverly when he committed a foul, but Cleverley when he received one.

  6. Johnny Deigh,
Cheers, JD. The lad seems to have learned the Fergie Rules thatfast. Clever boy.

  7. I’ve often noticed how often players get booked for fouling Rooney. I suspect it is something like a yellow card for every three fouls he receives.
It’s interesting that in this match, Rooney wasn’t fouled once. Compare that to how often Cesc or Messi get fouled.
