So we have seen a great first half of the ref with all the key decisions right. But then in the second half the performance dropped significantly. Thanks to his first half the final score was still okay.

Just wish to thank our ref reviewer for doing his job in very difficult circumstances and I hope things do look better in the next days.

  1. The ref had a very good first half, the second half wasn’t very good. It’s interesting to note that after Norwich had equalised, the ref’s calls started favouring Chelsea. I trust that was just a coincidence.

  2. 3 dodgy card decisions going Chelsea’s way within three minutes:

    77–Terry doesn’t get carded
77–Torres doesn’t get carded and sent off
80–Ruddy gets red carded and sent off

If it were Arsenal instead of Norwich, we’d be justifiably enraged. It sounds as if Norwich got busaccaed.

  3. @Gringo – the aspect that is critical is who plays Norwich in the next few games without Ruddy. I am surprised 2 or more reds were not given to Chelsea players to set them up for United next week.

I think this Law change stinks. Keepers should only be sent off for dangerous play. The forwards put the ball past the keeper and ensure contact. It is cheating in most cases.

  4. I agree, menace. A basic premise of any sensible justice system is that one offense merits only one punishment. A penalty and a sending off is clearly two punishments for the same offense, which is an unjust situation.

About Norwich playing without Ruddy, I just read on the BBC that his replacement, Declan Rudd (weird coincidence of surnames!), is only 20. Talk about nerves and the potential for the huge disadvantage of a starstruck keeper. To his credit, though, Rudd saved a penalty to keep Norwich in the game against West Brom.
