Important notice: All referee reviews on Untold Arsenal are written on the basis of television coverage. It should be noted that from time to time some TV channels choose not to show an incident involving the referee (preferring for example to show a replay instead). This can lead to our reviewer missing something that would have been spotted by the crowd. We’re sorry this happens, but really can’t find any way around this at present.

A bit of a mixed game from the ref. Adam got a yellow for his first foul which wasn’t that bad a foul. A foul you can see some 10 times in a game. His second was a well deserved yellow card but because of the first he had to go. I can understand some frustration from Liverpool.
A not given penalty on Caroll when Essou Ekoto was holding Caroll by the arm so he couldn’t jump was only adding to the frustration. As did the unpunished fore arm in the face of Skrtel from Defoe.
What Skrtel was thinking when he kicked in to Bale for his second yellow card is beyond me. Or was it the frustration for the unpunished arm that was smacked in his face that was still upon him? After that the game was over and done with 9 men on the pitch. But it took Liverpool being down to 9 men before they really broke down.
So a few important decisions going against Liverpool in this game but still an acceptable score for the ref at the end of the game.
