Lots of talking points. The not given penalty for City. A clear one for me. And after that I had the feeling that he started compensating a bit in favour of City to make up for his mistake. Never a good idea for a ref.

The fact that Yaya Toure made it on the pitch till the final whistle was amazing. His kick against the thigh of Mata when on the ground was a red card. After that a slap when Mata told him he didn’t like it at all. I wonder if there has been some bad blood between them from in Spain? It could be that the ref didn’t see it but I really wonder why the Fa didn’t take any action on this and banned him after the game. Kicking an opponent with the ball nowhere to be seen near is a red card. No excuses for this.

Mereiles also should have had his marching orders and so should Kompany. Both with 2 yellow cards.

The penalty for Chelsea was justified. Lescott came in with his arms raised and away from his body to make a block on the ball. The ref had in my opinion no other option but to give a penalty.

So a rather low score for the ref in a difficult game.

  1. In this game some players should have been sent off and not been on the field for the game against Arsenal. Yaya Toure is the best example…

  2. “but I really wonder why the Fa didn’t take any action on this and banned him after the game”

Strange indeed. One law for one, another law for another. YAWN. I guess the only difference between the UK and a banana republic is that here we can publish our concerns still…

  3. The chairman of the FA is ex City Chairman, may expalain reluctance to punish Toure retrospectively. It does beg the question why was Song treated so harshly at Newcastle earlier in the season and no one since for the same sort of incident. The inconsistencies of the FA are troubling.

  4. The ref was bad but he was bad for both sides. What galls me is when the wrong calls are lopsided toward one team as is so often the case with Arsenal (Man City v Arsenal)!!

    The inconsistencies are troubling!
