The wildest transfer rumour yet causes another meltdown, so what is likely to happen?

Arsene Wenger and Arsenal fans are resigned to losing both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil with their contracts up at the end of the season.

This comes just a day after we were being told that Ozil was negotiating a new deal.

Does this bloggetter actually know something new since yesterday or is he just making it up???  I think we should be told!!!

What I think is happening is that various second rate psychiatric institutions, begrudging the success of Dr Billy “the Dog” McGraw and his team in putting people to right with their behavioural therapy programmes are now trying to induce more mental illness in the country by making up new stories every day.

Or is it the other way round? Is Dr Billy and his crew spreading these rumours in order to create more mental illness?   No!  Surely Not!

When asked if their was a deadline to agreeing a contract extension talks, Mrs Wenger said,  “No, not at the moment.”

And that means, well, “no, not at the moment.”  Add that to, “Once you are in our kind of situation, we have envisaged every solution yes. It’s possible.”

Causing meltdowns is not yet a criminal offence in Britain, but I think it soon will be and the perpetrators should be brought to book.

Meanwhile, “Laurent Koscielny is preparing to ease Arsenal’s injury problems at centre-back on Saturday by returning for the match against Watford,” which I think we knew but it is nice to have it confirmed.

Here is some more:
.
Sead Kolasinac went off at half-time for Bosnia on Tuesday night but all reports say he will be available on Saturday. It means that Kolasinac should be able to continue at left wing-back and leave Koscielny in centre defence with Rob Holding and Nacho Monreal.  Mr Wenger said, “the news is quite positive.”

Back to the creators of panic and confusion:

Wenger makes shock Ozil and Sanchez admission amid Man Utd transfer links.  This must be added to the fact that Jack is not staying at Arsenal as he said, but is already packing his bags!!!!

Oh and we will have psychological problems against Watford as Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Kolasinac have all just realised they won’t be in the World Cup.

Meanwhile although yesterday Jack was about to leave because he needs first team football ahead of the World Cup, Arsène Wenger has said he “thinks that Jack Wilshere is close to being back to his best, and believes the midfielder could be a regular fixture in the Arsenal side if he continues.”   What a difference a day makes.

One more for a laugh.

And on that note, I leave you for now.

  1. You are forever disparaging other Gooners but your transparency is all too clear. You are struggling as everyone is trying to make sense of a manager who has turned football flippancy into an art form. Six months ago the team was to be built apound Ozil and now it is possible he will be off in January. A big rumour has Jack moving to West Ham to ensure game play with the WC in mind. Try to calm down. Your frustration is overwhelming your proposed satire.

  2. You’d think that the chattering classes and their monkey chain of second hand news generators had no idea that Oezil and Sanchez are out of contract in a year. Arsene Wenger is simply admitting what is already known…that where those two players play next year is largely out of the team’s hands and given that, selling them in January is a possibility. But hey, they probably got a few thousand clicks out of it.

  3. According to Merson, Arsenal would have won the League if Wenger was as tactically adept as Harry Redknapp. What…? This may well be the single most stupid comment that he has ever made (and that is really saying something). I mean, seriously, does anyone believe a word that comes out of this painfully thick, bitter morons alcohol-stained breath? What a joke of a man, he is.

So Arsenal not having won the league in a while has absolutely nothing to do with the limitless supply of money that 3 of our direct rivals have and the fact that we literally couldn’t spend more than we sold for a period, but everything to do with Wengers incompetence?

Does he even believe the words that he comes out with or is he honestly still so bitter about Wenger pushing him out of the team, that he’s convinced himself that he is right about how awful Arsenal/Wenger are? Or is he simply just as dumb as he looks? We all know that he is incredibly stupid, but is he really so thick that he truly believes that last comment?

  4. “Paul Merson claims Harry Redknapp would have led Arsenal to the title”

If there is one person in the entire Universe other than Merson that actually believes that I would be surprised.

Even if there is I doubt we’ll hear from them as I’m sure they’re be safely tucked up in there cell.

  5. Notice that many or most Arsenal or AW related articles the author always mention the last time Arsenal or AW won the PL but when it comes to other teams, they hardly mention when those teams last won a league title. I think by now most people know when Arsenal last won a league title, so there is no need to keep mentioning it.

Merson will keep saying silly things to keep himself relevant in the media, it is his livelihood. There are many people in our society who love hearing outrageous comments or people doing outrageous things, it’s just the way human society is heading.

With all the negativity about Ozil in the media and also from certain section of the Arsenal fanbase, one wonder why would Ozil sign another contract or play in England? Wouldn’t he prefer to go to other clubs either in Germany, Spain, or Italy where he would be appreciated? If Ozil leave and play in another League, I think it be a great lost to the PL.

“Merson will keep saying silly things to keep himself relevant in the media, it is his livelihood.”

Has it really got so bad that the only way you keep ‘relevant in the media’ is by slagging off anything Arsenal related ?

Honestly, if that really is the case, I don’t know if I should be disgusted or proud about that?

What I do know is, as a SKY subscriber I actually put money in that idiots pocket to say things like that.

  7. For me, Le Prof’s statement in his press briefing today on the likely possibility of Arsenal selling Ozil and Sanchez in the coming January window should not have been made by him. This kind of discouraging statement coming out of the mouth of Le Prof who is managing the squad that includes Ozil and Sanchez could demoralise Ozil and Sanchez mentally & socially as they return to action for Arsenal. Even if apart of the reported 2 offers Arsenal were said to have put on the table for the duo in January this year to extend which they declined, But Arsenal knowing that they will not table any improved offers for the duo to extend their staying at Arsenal apart of the ones they’ve already tabled to them should not lead to Le Prof going public with information on the issue IMHO. More so, if such information will impact negatively on the mentality of the duo. And I don’t think it will be nice if Arsenal try to use the trick of submission to force the duo to submission to extend seeing the prefrece Ozil who is reported to have bought a house in London and wants to continuing playing for a big club in the PL as a weakness in him and use it as a ploy to force him to submission to extend his contract at Arsenal. And I also think as a bargain strategy, Arsenal might be cashing in on the drop of Sanchez’s top goals scoring form this season which was as a result of his over footballing for Chile by his playing in the Confederations Cup and go for the regular summer break to join his mates later for preseason, and couple with his latest debacle in Brazil that saw him while playing for his country Chile got knocked out from qualifying for the 2018 World Cup. Which may have consequently downgraded his high footballing profile to low profile to force Sanchez to submission to extend using these low downs currently mitigating against him. .

You say “likely possibility of Arsenal selling Ozil and Sanchez in the coming January window ”

At what point does Wenger say ‘likely sale of…’ ?

  10. I’m sure that Merson is more than happy to oblige with indulging the medias anti-Arsenal agenda/bias. He clearly has a lot of bitterness reserved for Wenger and, perhaps even worse of a crime, he’s a self-proclaimed Chelsea fan.

  11. Tony whoops sorry Sir Hardly you write:

So he didn’t say “yes I will sell” nor “no I will not sell” but “you envisage every solution.”

The point is that if you look back to December 16 last year AW he made it abundantly clear that selling the two players or indeed them leaving wasn’t an option indeed he is clearly quoted as saying the only thing that was certain they would be at Arsenal come the end of the 2017/18.
The irony of all this is that both AW and indeed authours on this site have tried to justifiy the economics of not selling of Sanchez and or Ozil when it is clear that the drop in the two players transfer values would be massive.
The fact that Sanchez no longer has to worry about maintaining his form to tie down a WC berth can be spun as either a positive or a negative . In the case of Ozil he seems to get picked for Germany no matter his form in England
Will either of these two players be sold in January?

I suspect the bean counters at Arsenal wanted them both sold pre season they are probably praying a team somewhere will make an offer come January but and a big but will either player be swayed to agree to a transfer when in all likelihood they won’t be playing CL this season should a transfer happen in January and the agents will no doubt both argue that in financial terms both players will be in a strong position to negotiate sizeable signing on fees should they leave on a Bosman.

  12. Should Le Prof not force the Achilles hit Koscielny to start against Watford on Saturday if he’s not at 100% fitness to start in the match, but Metersacker is at:100% fit to start the match? My answer to my question is YES!

With Holding Metersacker Monreal manning the back three for Arsenal at the vicarage road on Saturday, Arsenal will undoubtedly beat Watford to the collection of all the 3 points that will be stake in match. Even Watford have already known that Arsenal will beat them in this PL march. So, what is the point for Le Prof to risk starting Koscielny in this match which Arsenal can comfortably win without him starting it but be on the bench for the match should in case his services will be needed for the match as the game pans on? With the though looking Europa League fixture there wanting for Arsenal to play it against Red Star Belgrade at away the following Thursday night’s after next Saturday, I think Le Prof should reserve the energy of Koscielny to start in this match and also in our away PL match against Everton that followed the Red Star match 3 days later. So that Le Prof will allow the Achilles of Koscielny to further rest before he start in these two would be difficult 2 away games for us.

My 3-4-3 starts and bench again.

    Starts:
    Cech
    Holding Metersacker Monreal
    Bellerin Ramsey Xhaka Coquelin
    Iwobi Lacazette Sanchez

    Bench:
Ospina Koscielny Elneny Maitland Ozil Welbeck Giroud

I think Le Prof should introduce Ozil & Welbeck as 2nd half substitutes into this Watford & Everton games first to gently makes them test their injuries recovery springs to brush off any game rustiness that could be in them before starting them in our home PL game against Swansea. And if Ozil is not starting the Watford match, Iwobi should be allowed to take corner kicks for Arsenal in this match. Because I watched him on my TV in the Nigeria vs Zambia WC qualifier matct crossed the ball very high from the corner very close to the byline into the Zambian box under pressure from his maker. Then, I asked myself, so, this chap can lift the ball this high from the wing into the box? When Ozil is not on the field, I’ve observed to take corners properly becomes a task for the rest of the Gunners who have attempted taking them for Arsenal as they looked not able to lift the ball high enough into the opponents box for the waiting Gunners there to pounce on it as Ozil does take the corners for Arsenal. And since
Walcott is more or less now our Europa League Cup start specialist, I’ve omitted him altogether in my 18 man squad for Watford to allow him conserve more energy to start the Red Star Belgium match to score goals for us and gives assists.

Nevertheless, Le Prof has the final say.

  13. After reading “Paul Merson claims Harry Redknapp would have led Arsenal to the title”

I could not stop laughing and was reminded of this quote from the movie Billy Madison:

Mr. Merson, “what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

  14. I really do think Ozil will stay at Arsenal, he loves London and no one will pay the wages he is asking for! Sanchez is definitely going and can sign pre contract in January outside the premiership! The only way Arsenal receive a fee is if it comes from one of the Manchester teams! Man city would be happy to part with 30 million for one of the best players in the world just to stop him signing for anyone else! Sanchez Jesus Aguero forward line is frightening!

  15. People like Mr. Merson are confirmation that the English press is thrash. How can any sane media house allow such a person on their set. It also goes to show how deep the hatred for Arsenal and Arsene has gone. Arsenal has won three FA cups and three community shields in the past four years yet they are yet to win a trophy. Meanwhile Mr Mou won league cup, community shield and europa league after spending hundreds of millions of pounds and he is a genius and has won three trophies. Thank God I am not English if not I would have been ashamed of such a press.

  16. @Nitram, unfortunately that’s how it is, outrageous comments or acts get media coverage. I only watch when the match kickoff, I don’t listen much to those ‘experts’ anymore.

  17. During Redknapps 4 year tenure at spurs he finished 8th, 4th, 5th, 4th.

Over the same period Wenger managed 4th, 3rd, 4th, 3rd.

So not bad but he never once managed to finish above Wenger.

During this period Spurs net spend was a £7 Million loss.

Wengers net spend was a £45 Million PROFIT.

So he hasn’t even got the excuse of being out spent in the transfer market.

I’m not saying Redknapp isn’t a good manager but to suggest he’s better than Wenger is simply ridiculous and to be fair they were both up against it anyway given that during this period Chelsea had a net spend of £163 Million and Man City £375 Million.

Merson, he really is a knob.
