Arsenal v Everton – the games between us, the form, and some remarkable scoring form

by Bulldog Drummond

We have played 210 games against Everton over the centuries, starting with them on 5 April 1905 which we lost.  Two weeks later we got our revenge and beat them in Plumstead.

Since then we’ve come out on top winning 105 to their 60, and of late we’ve been doing rather well against the toffees.  (According to Google, Ye Anciente Everton Toffee House was very popular with fans because it was near to their stadium. However, when the club moved to Goodison Park, they became close to Old Mother Nobletts Toffee Shop.)  I couldn’t possibly comment.

According to our own review of fans from different clubs we found this…

Everton is one of those clubs where one can look at it, and understand the broad, general principle of the notion of rising up and throwing Liverpool FC off its perch, but one can’t help getting somewhat baffled at the way in which the owner is trying to put the plan into practical effect. Rather similar to Hamlet in fact.  As for the fans, many an experienced undertaker has been deceived by their appearance and started embalming on sight.

Here are the last two dozen games between the two…

24 games, three draws, two defeats.  Better, in the last three games we have scored 13 and they have knocked in four, so an average game will give us a 4-1 win, which would suit us rather well I think.

Including the Checkatrade match (which was a nice evening out) we have lost two (the first two games) and then won five – those five bringing in 15 goals while conceding six, which means if the form of the last five is continued we should win 3-1.  Both omens are looking good.

As we know Arsenal’s form at home last season was excellent, and now we are picking up again after that opening upset against Manchester City.  Everton away have notched up two draws.

Going back to last season they actually had an away form that was worse than ours…

13 West Ham United 19 3 6 10 24 42 -18 15
14 Everton 19 3 6 10 16 36 -20 15

Thus not too much suggests that there should be a lot of worries in terms of Arsenal’s performance tomorrow – which is good news since virtually the whole Untold Arsenal team of writers and advisers (including those from Belgium who are getting a special treat tomorrow morning) will be gathered for the game.

Incidentally, although not relevant to the Everton match, we scored 20 goals in 19 away league games last season – an average of fractionally over one goal a game, which explains our ending up sixth in the league.  This season we have scored seven in three away games – and average of 2.33 goals per game.  That is quite a significant improvement, and bodes well for the future.

More on the match anon.

  1. My guessed Emery’s Arsenal 4-2-3-1 playing formation style starts and 7 Gunners on the bench he will likely use to demolish Everton in the match between Arsenal and Everton in the PL tomorrow at the Ems are as below.

    Starts:
    Cech
    Bellerin Mustafi Sokratis Monreal
    Torreira Xhaka
    Ramsey Ozil Aubameyang
    Lacazette.

    Bench:
Leno Lichtsteiner Holding Elneny Guendouzi Iwobi Welbeck.

What a strong Emery’s starts and bench I’ve guessed above he’ll likely use to demolish Everton in the game tomorrow at the Ems. Final scores @FT +. Arsenal 5-0 Everton.

  2. Thank you. It was nice to see you not suggest you were better than the management Arsenal has hired.

My Management has suggested to go to sleep.
