I decided to put in this chart of players in last season’s top six clubs who are already noted as leaving, following some blog comments to the effect that the release of half a dozen players by Arsenal for the grand sum of £3.5m showed how disorganised we are in our long term planning So here is the comparative chart of the players who thus far have been officially signified as leaving their clubs thus far.
As in previous summers I’ll try and keep this up to date in terms of future departures, and when players start arriving in sufficient numbers to make it interesting, do a comparative chart for signings. So far there are only three signings to last season’s top six – Sepp van den Berg to Liverpool, Daniel James to Manchester United, and Kion Etete to Tottenham.
Here then are the departures. The fees are those reported by the Guardian newspaper. Reports elsewhere will inevitably be different.
Arsenal: six players: £3.5m
|Julio Pleguezuelo||FC Twente||Free|
Chelsea: nine players, £97.3m
|Fankaty Dabo||Coventry City||Free|
|Eden Hazard||Real Madrid||£88.5m|
|Nathan Baxter||Ross County||Loan|
|Jay Dasilva||Bristol City||Unknown|
|Richard Nartey||Burton Albion||Loan|
Liverpool, three players, £5m
|Rafael Camacho||Sporting CP||£5m|
Manchester City, two players, no income
|Partrick Robers||Norwich City||Loan|
Manchester United, four players, no income
|Antonio Valencia||LDU Quito||Free|
So we have not got rid of the most players thus far – Chelsea have done that, and in getting rid of players for nothing we are again not alone. Only Chelsea has managed to pull in a big fee so far – which is perhaps a bit odd given that there is every chance they won’t be able to sign anyone this summer, and their owner still seems not to be paying too much attention to the club.
But there’s a long way to go as yet.

Oswwui? Loan to a Dutch side?
Formatting of this page is strange, huge empty space at the top.
Or, it was screwy under the mobile CSS. The desktop CSS is fine.
I thought Cech had retired?!!
