55 players tipped to be joining Arsenal this summer: the full list.

By Sir Hardly Anyone

Both George Lewis and his agent are claiming he’ll sign for Arsenal this summer. Lewis has openly stated that he is joining Arsenal and Jeorge Bird, who generally knows a thing or two about the kiddies, says that  Lewis’ agent says he will sign for Arsenal before the next season starts.  Of course, that could be in months and months, so these days it is not much of a prediction.

Mr Bird acknowledges that just once or twice perhaps an agent might overstate the case, but this time the agent seems pretty certain.

George Lewis has spent one week on trial, and then as he did rather well, got a second week, and then a contract was offered.   Which is quite remarkable because Lewis is a free agent having been released by Tromsø.  But then last season Tromsø did finish one from bottom of the first division and so were relegated.  The first division in Norway is actually the second tier, so he would have been a third-tier player.  But I suspect, given he was out of contract, the club could not afford to keep him on.

However, all the way along since the virus paid us a visit we have been saying this is going to be a different sort of transfer window.  Journalists may even have to find a new way to celebrate its end instead of the window “crashing shut” or whatever.  Even Sky Sports who have been forced to reign in their gibberish owing to activities by fans at stadiums (of which we will say no more) have put out a video under the headline “Only three PL clubs can spend this summer.”

The ex-Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli said that apparently, meaning Liverpool! of course, Manchester Emirates, and Newcastle Arabia.

And maybe an agent spilling the beans doesn’t actually amount to, well, a can of beans, especially when he doesn’t actually get around to saying which the three clubs are.

But this has not stopped the fake news experts from raking through their tea-leaves.

Here is the complete list of transfers we have been alerted to so far, for the 2020 summer window.  We have seven new players listed for the first time this week, and nine players who are hot enough to have had their information updated.

I should add that each year we have done this chart, the total of rumours that turn into truth is around 3%, which means we are currently down to sign 1.65 players.
