It was a strange performance by the Ref; Mark Halsey failed on a number of occasions to take decisions when they were there to be made. Easy penalties were missed, one for each team, blatant dives waved away yet not cautioned (both Man Utd players) and a straight Red for Dempsey was not even awarded as a foul, never mind the red card. Jumping vertically, he threw his elbow right into the face of Jones, resulting in Jones leaving the pitch with concussion, it was the first minute but the laws apply the same.

Halsey was often too far from the decision, or too slow to move out of the way of players, frequently getting in the way of the game.

The decision to caution Baird was correct, but it was just a soft foul preventing a Man U attack, much worse had taken place prior with no cards brandished, it was inconsistent poor refereeing.

The game was all over before half time so the poor performance of the Ref was not the headline, apart from on Untold that is!!
