By Sir Hardly Anyone
First thing to say is that this list of men going is nothing unusual for the summer. Quite often in a summer transfer window the media end up claiming that everyone is leaving, with each “outlet” citing someone else as the source, while simultaneously ignoring every other junk rumour that is doing the rounds.
Thus of course they never face the reality that they are part of the ludicrous notion that every single Arsenal player is on the move.
Here is the list thus far – and the very latest comments which are that Koscielny is going to Bordeaux (that from the Daily Mail) and that Monreal has unilaterally terminated his contract with the club (that is in the Daily Record).
No | Player | Going to | Source | Notes |
Update | Aubameyang | Real Madrid; China; Man U | FootLond; Playing for 90 Caught Offside | FL cite Calciomercato. The China story cites Guangzhou Evergrande and Shanghai SIPG. Caught offside say he has removed all traces of Arsenal from his social media sites. FL now says he is staying. Givemesport and Foot Lond have him going to Man U. Star says AFC will accept £52m. |
2 | Krystian Bielik | ??? | Sun | Sun says he is not going back to the under 23 team and will leave if not given a first team squad place. |
3 | Bellerin | Atletico Madrid | Telegraph | He has over 4 years left on his contract. Arsenal want £50m, At Mad are offering Vitolo. FoLo says his going to be injured all season (but that was probably a typo by them). |
4 | Chambers | ??? | FoodLond | Off to Tottenham (HITC) no Everton (TBR) |
5 | Cohen | ??? | Untold | Contract ended. |
6 | Elneny | Roma | Daily Cannon
7 | Jenkinson | Celtic | FootLond; The Sun | The Sun says he is going to Celtic. Foot Lond say it is WBA. FootLgeWorld also says WBA |
8 | Kolasinac | FootLond | No explanation – just Arsenal want to get rid of him according to FootLond
NEW | Koscielny | Bordeaux | Daily Mail | No real details given. |
Update | Lacazette | Barcelona or Atletico Madrid | Express; The Week, Ev Standard, Mirror | He has admitted he is flattered to have been linked with a switch to Barcelona this summer. Metro says he’s being offered a new deal. Foot Lond says no it is not happening. Mirror says it is back on |
Update | Macey | Daily Canon | Been told he can leave. HITC also ran the story back in June. But he is listed as being one of the Academy keepers on the official AFC site.
NEW | Monreal | ??? | Daily Record | He has unilaterally terminated his contract. But Metro says he is discussing new contract! |
13 | Mkhitaryan | Star, Mail | Star blames the Mail for the story. Star still pushing it however.
Update | Mustafi | Roma, Fenerbache | Daily Cannon, | “He’s up for sale” Express. Star says Arsenal working to get rid of him. Mirror says he is off to Turkey |
NEW | Reiss Nelson | Crystal Palace | FootLon | As part exchange for Zaha |
16 | Eddie Nketiah | Bristol C | Star; FootLon Bristol paper says Br. City | He will go on loan if we buy another forward. FootLon says lower leagues in England. Independent says it is Charlton |
Departed | Ospina | Napoli | FootLond; Caught offside Daily Cannon | “He’s up for sale” HITC says player himself says he wants to go. Napoli want to keep him and will pay €4.8m. Indy says the deal is done. FL says it is all signed and finished |
18 | Jordi Osei-Tutu | 2nd Div German side VfL Bochum | Daily Cannon | On loan for the season |
Update | Mesut Ozil | Fenerbache | FootLond, Star, Arsenal Fever | “He’s up for sale” say most but A.Fever says it is nearly done with AFC continuing to pay a lot of his salary |
Departed | Ramsey | Juventus | End of contract
21 | Smith Rowe | Leipzig | Foot Lond HITC | “He’s staying” exclusive from FL, but others say he’s off. HITC says he’s going on loan. |
22 | Sokratis | ??? | Foot Lond | He wants Champs Lge football |
23 | Suarez | Chelsea | Read Arsenal | He’s not really an Arsenal player but he was on loan |
Update | Torreira | AC Milan | All Arsenal Rumours; Caught offside | AAR create a rumour and then denying it all in one article. But Caught Off says AFC will have to sell as they need the money. Foot Lond suddenly say no he is not going! Squwaka agrees it was never a deal. |
25 | Welbeck | Daily Cannon | Now recovered from injury but out of contract, although Foot Lond had him as a possible player in the Uefa Cup Final
26 | Xhaka | Inter Milan, At Madrid | Sunday Express, BT Sport, Caught offside | Player says he wants to move. Inter wants him. But Suburban Gooners say he is going nowhere. At Madrid want him (Indy, Inside Foot, Metro) |
Of this list I think we can be clear that these will leave:
Cohen: he has not had a chance under the new management and has been told he will not have a new contract.
Jenkinson: it is hard to see that he has a future with the club, given the small number of games he has played.
Macey: we seem to be shuffling around the keepers and it looks like he will go, but I am not sure who our third and fourth keeper will be. Most seasons the fourth keeper has been the most promising of the under 21s, so he doesn’t take up a position in the 25 over age players. We could play with two under 21 keepers, but it is a risk unless we are really sure both are up to it.
Ospina is reported now to have left.
Suarez who was on loan but injured has gone back to his former club
Ramsey, as we all know, came to the end of his contract. The mainstream tale is that Arsenal offered him a new deal, he accepted and then Arsenal withdrew the contract. A strange tale indeed.
Danny Welbeck. His contract came to an end at the end of last season, with the player injured, and he was told he can leave. I am not sure that he has found a new club, but he is no longer an Arsenal player.
So that makes seven players going, which is a bit higher than normal, but it does include Cohen and Macey who were not first team players, plus Ospina who was on loan, and Suarez who was a loanee. And indeed Jenkinson who after his terrible injury while at West Ham has never recovered his best form. Which in effect leaves just two players from the first team who are going: Welbeck and Ramsey.
Mind you, for the media, two out of 26 is about right for the departures each summer. But then, when you think of it, if the media tip everyone to leave, even I could be a media pundit.
Apart of the Gunners who have already left Arsenal at the end of last season, it’s quite obvious that us Gooners will soon be saying byebye to more Gunners who’ll also leave the club too during this current summer transfer window. And some new player signings will obviously takes place at Arsenal this summer for us Gooners to welcome them to the Emirates Stadium.
But since us Gooners are not at the club nor are us privy to any inside informations at the club concerning Arsenal transfers this summer, to say or predict with pinpoint accuracy who the Gunners at the club will be leaving the club again to the transfer market this summer. And who the new players that Arsenal will sign this summer will be apart of the 18 year old Brazilian Gabriele Martinelli that they have already signed this summer. Us Gooners’ Arsenal wish outgoing player transfers and incoming player signings is largely based on the average or poor performance some Gunners have had for Arsenal last season on the outgoing side. But this bad form which some Gunners had for the club last season could change next season that could see these Gunners in exhilarating form for the club. Because bad form in previous season could change to good form in the season that followed. But it’s aging or old age that can’t change to young age. Therefore, the Arsenal hierarchy bosses have some decisions on their hands to make for the club this summer regarding the numbers of the on the fringe Gunners at the club that they’ll want to see leave. And the big earners at the club who were mostly in average or bad form for Arsenal last season that they will also want to see leave the club too this summer.
Do Arsenal transfer rumours in the media count, since it is only 3% of the 100 plus new players they predicted per season Arsenal will sign and sell do come true successfully? Well, what can us Gooners do or say other than to be reading the Arsenal summer transfer rumours as they are being published in the media. But use our common sense in addition to our Arsenal Knowledge and experience to agree or disagree with the media on which Gunners are likely or unlikely to be sold this summer by the club. And which new players the club will sign and not sign this summer.
In this wise, I think the generality of the Gunners will not disagree with Arsenal if they succeed to offload Monreal, Mkhitaryan to the transfer market for sales this summer hoping they’ll get good buyers for them. Or as being insunuated in the media, Monreal left on expired deal.
Three senior Gunners on Arsenal’s book in Petr Cech, the long serving Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck have left the club last season. And if Arsenal offloads 2 to 3 senior Gunners this summer to the transfer market for sales and succeeded to sell them off, but will they sign up to 5 or 6 new top quality players this summm as replacements to the 5 or 6 senior Gunners who have left the club or are envisaged to leave the club this summer? And will Arsenal actualise the signings of William Saliba and Kieran Tierney this summer? But if they sign those 2 who are defenders, which defender in the squad will they offload to make room for one of Saliba and Tierney to come in into the squad if they are signed? That’s assuming the believes in some Gooners quarters materialise to see Monreal leaves Arsenal this summer. But does Arsenal need to do a top quality striker signing this summer? Of course they need to do one as a matter of necessity. But will they sell Aubameyang this summer to finance the new top quality striker signing identified and marked for signing this summer? The new top quality striker signing who can guarantee scoring over 20 PL game winning goals and 15 direct assisted goals for Arsenal next season? If so, Arsenal may go ahead to sell the 30 year old Aubameyang this summer for a substantial sum of money to finance the new young striker signing. But that’s assuming there is a fund available at the club to sign Wilfred Zaha from Crystal Palace as direct replacement to Auba’ at the inside-right wing.

Samuel,
Today’s lengthy effort from you timed at 3.02 was repeated at 3.34. Why?
I’m sure many of us following Untold enjoy your posts, but is it really necessary to repeat every one.
Nicky
There may be people who enjoy SAA’s posts; I am not one of them. I have almost never read one of his posts. He cannot find any reasonable way to either write things correct enough on the first pass that he cannot overwrite things, or find a way to correct things which takes minimal space.
For me, SAA is a complete waste of time; and I seldom read sentences from what he posts, let alone the entire article.
PARDON MY FRENCH
When Charles de Gaulle decided to retire from public life, the British ambassador and his wife threw a gala dinner party in his honor.
At the dinner table, the Ambassador’s wife was talking with Madame de Gaulle:
“Your husband has been such a prominent public figure, such a presence on the French and international scene for so many years! How quiet retirement will seem in comparison? What are you most looking forward to in these retirement years?”
“Hard penis! Just hard penis!” replied Madame de Gaulle.
A huge hush fell over the table.
Everyone heard her answer…… and no one knew what to say next.
Le Grand Charles leaned over to his wife and said:
“Ma cherie, I believe English pronounce the word as , “Happiness…!'”
@Gord,
Agree entirely with what you say.
I was trying to be polite and let the guy down gently.
