Can Arsenal Lift A Trophy In The 2025/26 Season?
After repeatedly going close, can Arsenal get their hands on more silverware in the 2025/25 season? Here’s what they need to do.
It doesn’t matter which way you look at it; Arsenal have been one of the best teams in the Premier League for the last few seasons, the second-best team, to be precise. The club has made a lot of progress since former Gunner Mikel Arteta arrived as manager, but now there’s a desire from everyone to take the next step, which means winning more silverware and doing so on a consistent basis.
The Gunners Are Nearly There
For the last few seasons, Arsenal have challenged for honours in the Premier League and in other competitions, such as the Champions League. They’re talked about as one of the strongest teams in England and in Europe, are it always feels like they’re on the cusp of taking that next step and becoming winners. Ultimately, this means that relatively little needs to change to transition from challengers to winners. The club and Arteta just have to make the right decisions.
Finding That Extra 5%
As mentioned, not much needs to change in reality if Arsenal are to win a trophy of some sort in the upcoming season. It’s all about finding that extra 5%, the missing 5%, as some would call it. The club and Arteta will have already identified what small gains can be made by making specific decisions, especially in their summer transfer window plans. After determining where the marginal gains are, the next step is to execute.
Signing A Number Nine
A glaringly obvious action Arsenal must take is to finally sign an elite-level goalscorer, a player they’ve been crying out for now for years. Goals win games, and a striker taking a chance or missing can be the difference between success and failure. Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are two goal-getters who have been linked, and signing either would be a major boost. Football betting online will react to Arsenal finally bringing in a number nine, as it will almost instantly improve their odds of winning silverware.
Adding Quality Over Quantity
Teams will often be mentioned as needing to add strength in depth. Nowadays, they need to, due to the amount of competitions sides are playing in and the number of games they have to get through. However, the trick for teams like Arsenal, a team that sets out to win trophies, is to add quality over quantity. If Arteta is able to rotate his starting XI without a significant drop-off in quality, they will be in a much better position to compete on multiple fronts in 2025/26 and beyond.
Final Thoughts
Arsenal, as they do every season, will start the new campaign as one of the favourites to win the competitions they’re involved in. This is because, on paper, they’re one of the strongest outfits in world football. However, the task at hand is to live up to the expectations and the favourite tag. If you look at the progress made since Arteta’s arrival, they’re on the right track; they just need to take that final step. This can be aided by what they do in the summer transfer window and by continuing to believe in the process.
