Arsenal squad for Europa League game

For the last Europa League game the team Arsenal put out was…

Turner

Tomiyasu  Holding Gabriel Tierney

Vieira Lokonga Xhaka

Marquinhos Nketiah  Martinelli

On the bench we had Ramsdale, Hein, White, Saka, Odegaard, Jesus, Saliba, Zinchenko, Cirjan, Smith, Cozier Duberry.

Our injury list has reduced considerably in recent days and is showing Smith Rowe who is recovering from injury with no date set for return although December is being mentioned in some circles, Elneny is out for the long term, while there is nothing that I can find from the club about Cedric Soares.

However, the Daily Canon tells us that “Cedric Soares has recovered from injury and is set to be involved in the squad to face FK Bodo/Glimt on Thursday, according to a report. “

The points made in the previous article show that just because we may not know too much about them, Bodo Glimt have been getting some positive results in Europe, and so we should not necessarily use this as a chance to put out a team of youngsters.   A few of these players will get a chance of the bench, not just to introduce them to the show, but Arsenal need players in reserve in case something does go amiss.

But while thinking of injuries it is interesting that a study recently showed that the Premier League “suffered the most injuries to players across the top five leagues in European football last season.”  A total of 1231 injuries occurred with Chelsea getting the single biggest club total in the Premier League with 97. They were followed by Manchester United (81) and Liverpool (80)

It has also been reported that last season was the first time that injury costs exceeded £500m across the big five leagues. There was a particularly large jump in the number of under 21 players who were injured and in receipt of recurring injuries.

All in all there seems to be a lack of information on this game, with the Uefa official site having a page online dedicated to the match, which simply says, Who will win.   At least that was all that was on the site on the afternoon of 5 October.  An interesting question but as an article lacking a certain depth I felt.

I particularly liked a piece on stats.football.co.uk which promised to reveal the Arsenal v Bodo / Glimt Head-to-Head Record.  The page however is blank.

So we are indeed struggling a little to provide much more information, but since we haven’t given it before here is the full Arsenal Europa League squad.  Under the regulations clubs can include as many under 21s as they like so Arsenal have included everyone.

Since we didn’t publish it before, here’s the complete Europa League squad for the group stages.
